Pretty Quotable

We're counting the days until WANTED arrives on June 8th...but as we look forward, we're looking back. Remember this quote from PLL?

"Before Ali, the girls had felt like pleated, high-waisted mom jeans – awkward and noticeable for all the wrong reasons – but then Ali made them feel like the most perfect-fitting Stella McCartneys that no one could afford." ~Pretty Little Liars, p. 4

Alison was the ringleader, the center of attention, the Queen Bee. She had a charismatic power over others that got them to do what she wanted, when she wanted them to.

But what did the other girls get out of their relationship with her? A sense of belonging? That's certainly one perk...but was it the only one?

Why do you think the girls maintained their relationship with Alison even as they felt manipulated or used?

The answer that everybody wants to know is...sort of (not that yes and no) sure Alison could get along with her close friends not to get used up for this junk or something.

Every girl wants to make that one fabulous popular girl her best friend, even if that means changeing yourself and doing what ever she wants

I think hey maintained the relationship because it was easier to be friends with her and stay on her good side. Plus, they all thought she was a Queen or something. She could do no wrong so they denied when she was mean and manipulative to them.

Yeaa i agree , it was to be popular. But it could also be that they didn't really have any friends before thy met Ali. You know like Spencer was walking with someone when Ali anounced that she knew where a piece of the time capsul was. Emily was with her sister. Aria was by herself and I can't remember Hanna but she was there. So i think they stayed with Ali because if one of them left , Ali would ruin their life and they would loose the best friends they gained. Didn't you notice that once Ali was gone , they lost each other , well that would have happened when Ali was around then. So not just to be popular , but to have best friends that they could tell everything to

i think they're truly are 'best friends' in the end. The girls with the exception of Alison didn't have friends, and Alison gave them a certain sense of belonging for the first time in they're lives. they connected & it probably would of stayed that way. I dont think Alison realized she was hurting them. i think she thought that maybe giving someone else a little bit of her suffering, a little bit of her pain & how she felt about her secrets, the stuff that was going behind closed doors. she'd feel better about herself & her life if she knew that she wasnt the only one with a dirty little secret.

i think they sayed with her because if they left they would have nothing. when ali died hanna had to make friends with mona the person they teased because she had no one spencer dosnt really have friends....aria moved to iceland she likes the guys....emily has or had her swim friends .she left them with nothing because she was their everything

I think that if they left or decided to leave they were afraid that ali woyuld tell all their secrets.so once she was gone...they were free and no longer needed to hang around each other.

definitly popularity. i mean, who wouldnt want to be friends with the prettiest, most popular chick in the school? that would be a dream come true for most, although i could hold on all the drama that came with her. that would be quite a nightmare. dont you think?

I think they all didnt fit in somehow and Ali changed that. She made them feel special and powerful. I think after the Jenna accident, they felt connected cause Ali acted like it was their secret. Things like that made it better. I dont really think it was anything other than wanting to fit in and having someone who everyone else looks up to like you. I think they got closer as things went along. And I think they hoped that Ali would change because she has everything. They wanted to keep fitting in, they didnt want to ruin anything and have the most popular girl in school hate them.

I think they stayed with her becuase they wanted to be accepted. They didnt want to go back to their old loner lives so they put up with all of Ali's cr@p.

I think they stayed friends with her so that they could still be popular. Also, Ali knew all of their biggest secrets, so imagine what would happen to the girls if they told Ali they didn't want to be friends with her anymore! Everyone would know their secrets. So i guess it's a mix of both of those reasons.

Probably because, it made them feel special. Because, someone as popular as Ali would even TALK to them.And when, she started being there friends, they were so shell shocked they didn't notice the evil, cruel things she was doing. Plus, when they did notice, they could have thought to themself " I might as well stay popular, here I am with the most beautiful girl in school! Why the hell should I give this up?" I so would not blame them.

Definatly was to be popular but also they didnt have that many great friends before such as Aria she didnt have any. Hanna wanted to be Ali soo she didnt want Ali hating her and Emily was in love with Ali and I honestly dont no why spencer stayed

They finally felt like "those stella jeans no one could afford". They had friends and if they for dumped Ali knew all their secrets and could use them against them like that...Ali was a Master Manipulator

i think that the reason that the girls stayed friends with alison was that they wanted to be known as the IT girls at rosewood

because ali was the ideal best friend until she found out their secrets then she turned into the mean manipulitive ali and they stayed 'friends' with ali after she learned their secrets because they were afraid that if they ended their freindship with ali she would reveal their secrets to everyone
