The Liars get another creepy text from A in episode eight, but it warrants a little explanation – especially for those too distracted by Mr. Fitz to pay attention in English class!

"Do it right, I'll be watching. Just like Tom Sawyer. –A"

In The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain, Tom, Huckleberry Finn, and their friend Joe get stranded on an island three miles from town while rafting. The entire town thinks that they're dead, and holds a funeral for them. However, the boys sneak back and watch the entire service, finally coming back in after witnessing their community's grief at their loss.

This begs the question, what is A really trying to say?
