How to Be (and stay) an It Girl
Posted at 05:28PM Jul 22, 2008 by Kerry Shaw in Talent Advice
Here’s something I learned from Zoey: being an It girl is a choice. No one—not even Angelina Jolie—wakes up one day and magically becomes captivating. Even she has to work at it.
Being charismatic and fun is a lot like being a great athlete. You don’t become a great swimmer or surfer if you don’t put in time in the water. And you don’t become a fascinating person without any effort.
Here’s how to be fabulously fascinating:
- Read. A lot. And not just Zoey Dean’s TALENT (wink, wink). Read magazines and books you normally wouldn’t even think of picking up. Dare yourself to learn one new fact from everything.
- Go new places. Even if it’s as simple as walking home a different route. Exploring your world will lead to fascinating new experiences.
- Talk to new people. Reach out on Facebook to friends you’ve lost touch with. Summer’s also the perfect time to make a friend date with someone you don’t know very well.
- Try new things. Learn about yoga on the web and practice some beginner positions. Or pick up a book about scrapbooking at the library and give it a shot. You might discover a new talent!
- After you've done all these things, do 'em all over again!
