Hey Ladies,

I’m so glad to hear that some of you out there are excited about the arrival of Envy, which is only two weeks away now. It’s so interesting to be getting feedback—now that the series is somewhat more advanced—on how the cover models compare to the characters you’ve been picturing in your heads. The girl who graces the dust jacket of the third book is beyond beautiful, but the Diana I imagine when I am writing is a little shorter and plumper, certainly darker haired—although the curls falling out of their arrangement is absolutely correct. And the expression she wears is dead on; it’s knowing, mischievous, a little careless, and capable of a level of passion that might border on dangerous.

I think another reason readers really have opinions about this cover is that Diana is the character they most relate to. She’s the bookish one of the main cast, and also the searcher; she’s the one character who is of this luxurious world but is incapable of fitting in to it. I am often asked which of these girls I am most like, and though there is no easy answer, there is certainly a lot of Diana in me—the seeking, the slightly dreamy tendencies, the ability to fall in love easily. But then, I am a little like Elizabeth, too (I was born guilty, just like her), and Penelope (awfully snarky at times), and Henry (there is some terribly foppish buffoonery in my past), and especially Lina (I stumbled a lot on the stubborn notion that my ordinary life could be made beautiful, too). I once dated a guy who stared at me for a long moment and then said, “You look like a different woman from every angle.” He was talking about the peculiar architecture of my face, but he was right in more ways than one. And we’re all a little like that, aren’t we?

I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on the cover of Envy, and which of the Luxe girls you relate to most, and whether or not you, like me, have a little benign multiple personality disorder.

I love this series!!!!!! I can't wait for Envy to come out. When I first read the first boo I had it all wrong I pictures Diana being blonde and Elizabeth being a brunette then when I read Rumers I saw my mistake:) this series makes it really fun and easy to read about history. Your a great writer!!!!!

I luv this series!! Well, I'm at the end of Luxe but still....its great! WOW!! Inever thought a book in the 1800 would be soo cool!!

You said Envy is coming out in two weeks but on Chapters the release date is listed as January 16. I assume you know the release date, it is your book after all! But Chapters used to say the release date was January 27 and have only recently (last fortnight or so) changed it. I was wondering why this is? (And I'm hoping the book will be there when I go to Chapters to buy it!)

ANNA~ Question: I assume you will put Lina on the next cover...just a conjecture. If there are more (we hope so!!) will you break trend and put a male character on the cover?? and what is the casting process like? Thanks Jane

I love all the covers of the Luxe series! They are absolutely gorgeous and your are so right about the model's expression in Envy, michevious and all that. I relate to Diana and kinda also Elizabeth ~~ My personality changes on its own, although I know how I really act. Oh! I didn't mean to, but I accidently stumbled on a site that has 9 chaps and the summary of the last Luxe book with its book title, but I'm not gonna say. I'm guessing you know where. That's why I'm gonna grab Envy on the shelves when it comes out :)

The most surprising part of this series is how closely it relates to my life. My name is Elizabeth (not kidding) and my best friend's name is Diana. My sister's name is Anna. I have a crush on a guy in my class named Will (plus I have a thing for Will Turner in Pirates of the Carribbean . . .) and one of my childhood friends was Caroline. I'm obsessed with Edward Cullen from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight (which relates back to Teddy Cutting and the late Edward Holland). The strangest part is, all of the people in my life match up almost exactly to their personalities in the books! (Except me . . . I'm more of a Diana than an Elizabeth. . . .)

Dear Anna , just wanted to state this first, the Lauren part of my name is a middle name i came up with to cover for the Diana dying incedent I told you about, its acctually Laura but I dont like that name so I changed it up a little (no lie) I think should also share the ackwardnes of why and how I picked out "The Luxe "from my library.It was early fall 2008. As I was looking around, I found a new book tittled"The Luxe" with a blonde girl on the cover so call me judjemental but I did my 3 checks that I ussaly do on a book before taking it out so excuse my "jujing a book by its cover" but then I realized I really liked the background so(check 1) I picked it up.I started reading its discription on the inside and my name suddenlly popped up next to my bffs middle name Elizabeth and I was blown away(defenetly check 2) . I love the Luxe books!!! They are some of my favorite books ever, and I'm psyched for the release of Envy. I definitely relate to Diana the most. I am bookish, a little wild and I constantly dream of adventure. Also, I am totally in love with Henry Schoonmaker too! Thanks for writing these fabulous books Anna Godbersen.

Well, what can i say-that i too love your series and the covers. My sister and I are very excited for Envy to come out! We have a bet going, dealing with the oil field that Will found in Rumor. By any chance could you give us a clue whats going to happen at the end? Cant wait and keep up the good work! Thanks, and good luck getting your deadlines done. Just remember if you get it done and out of the way now, you don't have to worry about it tomorrow!

I completely agree with your assessment of the girl on the cover. I thought Diana would be on this cover, but I saw it and thought, "That can't be Diana. She's too tall and light-haired. That must be Lina..." Still, absolutely gorgeous, as always- even though I'd been hoping for a green dress!! (Title being "Envy" and all.) Your Diana sounds like mine, which is good, since you made her up. Haha. In any case, I can't wait for Envy! I'm sure it will be amazing.

love your books they are the best!!!! the girl on the cover of envy is pretty but i imagined her with a yellow dress or maybe a peach color also her darker but still brown and the girl doesnt exactly have that whole devious face well thats just my opinion but hey i still love the books!

My idea of Diana was exactly the same as yours. I never really imagined any of the girls looking like models (I thought they would be shorter.) I REALLY hope The Luxe gets made into a movie!!! Ok so i like many other people think that you should totally make a movie for the books but instead of using someone that everyone knows use a new face have auditions all over the country and have new chicks be the characters that would totally cool. go to vegas (thats where im from!), la, ur hometown, miami, hawawii, washington whatever but it would still be awsome if u did that by the way love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Books ! :)

Anna, I love the series. It is definitely one of my favorites. I can't wait for Envy. Although, I'm not sure how much homework I will get done before I'm finished reading. haha As for the multiple personalities, I do have that problem. I've been told for quite sometime by adults that I am very mature for my age, so I often find myself switching between who I truly am and who I've always wanted to be.

for AQUAGIRL, I love your cast, but Henry isn't good, he must be very dark haired with dark eyes. I think that Brandon Routh, the new Superman, would be perfect for him, don't you?Also, Angelina Jolie would be certainly the best Penelope, tough she might be too old now.

Hey :) Im a big fan :) I fell in love with the series as soon as I read the first chapter! I have actually caught myself screaming while reading some parts :P And, I have to be honest, I cried while reading Rumors. I find your work amazing, I love stepping into your Luxe world lol. I pre-ordered Envy and finally got it today, and plan to lay in my bed and read it for the next 5 hours :) I cant wait to see what happens next :D

OMG! I was just looking through Envy on harperteen.com (cause I can't wait for it to come out on Tuesday! =)) and I saw that the 4th Luxe book is going to be called Splendor and that it is going to be the last edition to the Luxe books =(. So I researched it and target.com said that the release date was going to be January 1, 2020! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! Please please please please please don't publish it that date! Please please please please please publish it earlier than that! And if target.com was wrong (grrrrrrrr!)well then I am just happy that there will be a 4th Luxe book! YAY! But I am sad that it will be the last book in the Luxe series =(. Oh well and these are some of the best books I have ever read!

Even though I'm a bit older than your target audience, I must confess I am a fan! I just read the latest book 'Envy' at the local store, came here to talk about it, and found out here that technically it's not supposed to be out for another 48 hours (whoops!). Avoiding all spoilers, I will say this - 'Envy' is as enticing and rich as all your previous work, and can only hope that many more stories about our Gilded Age Manhattanites will be soon in coming! Brava!

Wow...The girl who is modeling Diana on the Envy cover is beautiful!! Tho i hoped that she would be wearing a green dress as i imagine Diana in green and the title is Envy so it seemed to fit but she is still lovely and actually looks like Lizzy! I am sooo excited for Envy x

HEY EVERYONE READ THIS COMMENT: 1. On alloyentertainment.com it said The Luxe is only a four book series :( 2. Fans of Pretty Little Liars and The A-List will be happy to know that there are one-hour pilots being made for ABC Family (PLL) and the CW (AL). 3. I also think that Lina will be on the 4th book. Does anyone know what it is going to be called? 4. That's all. lol.

heyy just wanted to say that i LOVE these books and was wondering about the release date for envy- i no its supposed to come out today but i was shopping yesterday and found a copy at smith books..? i bought it of course but i was wondering y it was early also i didnt even realize that diana was the model on this cover- i didnt think it really looked like her the expression was right but i pictured her with short chocolate brown hair that was really really curly anyway love the series!!!

OMG...So I just finished ENVY, And I just have to say that I treasured it. But I have to know when the estimated release date for Splendor is. I know it’s probably far too early to know that considering that Envy was just released, but any round about time would be great to know. I really hope to that there is a way that Teddy and Liz can be together. His character just seems like a very loyal man. And I know that Henry is really supposed to be in love with Di, but he in truth needs to get his stuff together. And I would love to see Penelope end up looking like a total witch that she is, and finish the series with her name ruined.

ALYSSAHH!- when they put it out as a four book series they mean that all they now is there will be four books....i hope, at least thats what i noticed. i started crying reading his letter. I love Henry and Diana together. And i seriously cant wait for Splendor, i want it out in like 5 months, thats about all the time i can wait before getting impacient :](im a very impacient girl lol).

Madison- unless the book is like 20,000 pages long i dout it will take that long to publish...thats 11years away, AND i hate when books are only 4 books long, its so unfair becuase the series goes by way to fast, and in alot of cases, all the things that could be used in the book are deleted to fit into the four books.

OMG has anyone thought that since Diana and Henry go in the war, one of them will die right after Henry finds out Diana followed him. that would be terrible, you CAN NOT Anna EVER let that happen, im a terrible romantic and that would break my heart, you cant, please please PLEASE do not do that! i love Teddy but id rather have him die than Diana and Henry

yesterday i was at barnes & nobles with my friend and i saw envy ouy. i jump up in the air crying WOHOO! my friend got me to fall in love with the books and i have been reading her copies of luxe and rumors and i got envy before her. i was really happy and called her ASAP that it was out and i got it before her. she was so pissed. earlier that week during free period, we were drawing our own cover for envy. we both drew our version of Diana in a green dress for envy, but they were both terrible!!!! i hope the books become movies!!

for everyone wondering when splendor is coming out, according to harper-collins publishing (where the books are published), you can pre-order the book which is set to come out on OCTOBER 1, 2009! just thought u all might wanna know :). ana please correct if this is incorrect cuz i'm sure we're all DYING to know when it's coming out and what's gonna happen :).

I have nearly finished reading Envy, actually Im planning to tonight, i think i only have about 100 pages left ! I must admit i can really imagine what the charcaters looked like even before i knew they were on the covers ! But i thought it was Diana on the cover of Roumers not Penelope and obv it was Elizabeth on Luxe but i always imagined Diana to look like what Penelope does. The dark eyes and dark hair. And Lina doesnt look like what i imagined and as i said it was very easy to imagine what they looked like from you great descriptions. I cant wait for Splendour . its so exciting to read about Liz and Penelope and Di and Henry and Lina and all the rest of them! I feel like i actually know them personally ! I REALLY wish Diana and Henry actually got together in Splendour , i think i might cry if they dont ! Love Millie x
