Work that Camera

I'm having so much fun watching the auditions you guys have uploaded so far, and I can't wait to see more! (And to the people wondering in the comments - EVERYONE thirteen and older can audition--you don't have to look like the Kiran I describe in the books!)

I had my first shoot a few weeks ago when I made the announcement video for you guys...so now that I'm such a "pro" I thought I'd offer some advice:

1) Use the best camera you can get your hands on. Webcams are fine if that's all you have, but take them off the computer, and make sure your head isn't getting cut off. If you have a digital camcorder, that's even better. We want to see your best possible audition video!

2) One of the easiest ways to make sure everything looks good is to have a friend help you! I couldn't have made my video alone, and why should you? Ask your BFF to frame your shot - but make sure the camera's on a tripod or a flat surface - and then switch places so she can audition too. Win win!

3) Just do it! I <3 you guys, and I want to see more videos! So what are you waiting for?

hey that's so great, but too bad i can't audition! I'm living in Malaysia . but, i can't wait to see who plays all the character. I'm so ecstatic for the show. yeah will it be on TV or just the internet ? i love your books and i cant wait for Beautiful Disaster and Suspicion. Bye!

I think some characters are seen on the contest page. Noelle, I think, is the closest to the left, with Sabine next to her, Taylor more centered and Ariana on the far right.

I have read the first five books and I don't recall anywhere it saying that Kiran was Asian. Is this something that is described later in the series? I have my video up and am excited, but then someone had told me Kiran was Asian. I'm not Asian. Just curious.

Too Bad the majority of girls who are additioning are like 12 and I wouldnt want to watch the show where it is just little kids, because the characters sound like they are older not younger than they are. The girl should atleast be 16. Having younger people would ruin everything, that would be like the book clique.

Seriously Kate? Please DO NOT choose a 12/14 year old. Come on now. They will mess up Billings for sure! I agree with the above comment. The girls in Billings are seemigly mature, not 15! Pleaassssee make a wise choice. I beg of you. Don't ruin Billings:(

I can't wait for the series! I can't audition though because I live in Australia =( But I just wanted to say that I think your books are amazing and I am busy at the moment writing down recommendations for my friends who all want to read your books, especially the Private series! I do have a question though, are you going to update a draft for Suspiscion and when is the book coming out?

i agree with the above comments. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont pick people that are too young or look to young, it will ruin the webshow! i can not audition because i am canadian but otherwise i would SOOO BE noelle, i LOVE her to death. but yes, please kate, PICK PRETTY PEOPLE! I actually have a question. I would love to audition, but if I win and get casted, one of the days to be on set is my high school graduation. Would I have to miss my graduation in order to be casted?

Hi Kate , I'm really excited to see whos going to play Kiran . I know this is a little of topic, but I still am wondering if there is going to be another book after Paradise Lost and when it will be available. I really want to know who pushed Reed off the boat ! You usually have a picture of the next book on the back of the previous one, but on Paradise Lost there isn't anything about another book. Please keep writting the Private Series ! I love them ! They're not going to choose really ugly people(hopefully), because that'd ruin the purpose of Private. I'm excited to see who plays Ariana, Reed, Noelle, Thomas and Josh. I also can't wait for Suspicion. I heard on alloyentertainment.com that Private is going to be an 11 book series...so that's Private, Invitation Only, Untouchable, Confessions, Inner Circle, Legacy, Ambition, Revelation, Paradise Lost, Suspicion and Last Christmas.So, is that it?!?! Or is Last Christmas not considered of the eleven?? I'm really curious because if it is, than Suspicion is the last in the series and though I still have Privilege to look forward too, I really love Private. I don't know whether to :( or :) ~Alyssahh

I found this on wikipedia Kate can you explain" There has been controversy regarding Brian’s grasp of the characters’ names and physical appearance. Throughout the beginning of the series, when the character of Kiki is first introduced, her last name is Rosen. However, as the series progresses, her name switched to Kiki Thorpe. Also, one of the secondary characters, Joshua Hollis, possesses green eyes in Private, Invitation Only, and Inner Circle, but has blue eyes in the other installments. A critic stated in a review for Amazon.com that the appearances of many of the secondary characters, with the exception of a few, changes "with each new installment." Another character, Thomas Pearson, is stated to have blue eyes in Private and Last Christmas, but at a later point in Private is described with big brown eyes."

Um, I just noticed a flaw in the third script for Kiran, even though I can't enter I HAD to read the monlogues, and Kiran says "Now poor Taylor's gotta live with this lame New Girl. Reed something? What kind of name is that, anyway?" Doesn't Reed end up living with Natasha? I was a little confused with that

I hightly doubt that is a "flaw." A lot of times tv/movie adaptions change things. I don't really think it's that big of a deal.

OK. I am seriously excited for the auditions and stuff!But isnt Kiran like 15? I mean would people that are younger than that even get considered? And then I know this is meant to like only respond to what you write.. but you guys should really check out like fanfiction... And a fanfiction titled Suspicion: A Vacation Lost, and Suspicion by Obvious Olson and then basically all of the other fanficitions that are about Private. They are really, really good! lol.

CAn't audition this sucks. Oh well i get to watch the series so i can't complain, but i watched some of the auditions and they weren't bad but lets face it not very good. Kate, I know this is probably one of your many millions of comments, but I was wondering if you knew anything about the "reality series" taking place for the grand prize winners. Is this going to be like Vh1 reality?! Like where they FOLLOW everyone around, we bunk in the same room, and everyone gets mad, then starts throwing things and saying obscenities all on camera? I was totally stoked for the auditions, but I'm a tad aprihensive about staying in rooms with other girls AND being followed around by cameras.... Just a question! A Fan, Alaina

this is going to be gaayy. ivee watched all the audition tapes and almost everyone is way too young to play kiran! im really worried that this show is going to be terrible. kate, i think you should have waited to get your tv show on television- then the really good actors would audition. im not sure this is going to be good...im waiting to see what actors they choose to play the parts but if its all 15 year old girls and guys im definately not watching. im so disappointed that this is how one of my favorite books is turning into a tv series. a webseries? really?

yeah i'm not that crazy about the whole 15 year old actors too. i mean in the book they are seem so much older. and i mean, look at the girls on the cover of the books, they look way older then 15. (only on the first couple books though. there are some young ones on the last couple) and yeah i was kinda wanting this to turn into an awesome movie. it would be WAY better then Twilight and other over-rated movies because you never would have guessed the stuff that happens in them. Twilight and other movies are so typical. i vote to make these books into a movie series! and i really think you should consider it Kate, it would be way better. and hey you could like do a whole bunch of stuff for it too. Private fans would LOVE that, well...i know i would.

UGhh. They should not have like, a 13 yr old play kiran. i mean, seriously? this is billings. i also dont think they shud use typical actors such as megan fox and taylor swift. it'd be too weird..we notice them everywhere. their names and their movies/songs will be stamped on their heads.

yeah the girls that are on the cover of the books should be the ones playing them. they can't be 13 years old because i watched all those videos and stuff, i mean there are some good ones, but no offence we need girls that know what they're doing and how to do the attitude right. and some of you out there have what it takes don't get me wrong, but like we need girls who can play that attitude perfect like how it is in the books.

I think Clique was wonderfully cast for the exception of one character. I do not want to see someone who is out of High School playing the part of a sophmore in High School. I think disney has done that enough using "small" people that look younger than they really are. If someone is 15/16 and has the look and skills I would much rather see them in the role.

I for one, am unhappy about these web episodes. Its going to ruin what I pictured everything to be like! At least its not being made into a movie. Im sorry if u dont agree but im very upset about these episodes and i hope it doesnt cause a delay with the writing of the private and privilage books. Kate, i still think your an superb writer and your books are fantastic thought! Im dying for beautiful disaster to come out and Im gonna be the first to buy it on Monday!!!

I totally agree that the Billings girls should be older, i mean i'm fifteen but the younger girls don't have very good auditions. And do you believe that a younger girl could play Noelle. Nobody can it's impossible. Like shes strong and confident and mature, not someone who's just starting to use makeup. And they should be over the Canadian drinking age.

OMG! i just read beautiful disaster! its really good. :) but i thought it was suppose to come out in like june or something? whateves, its awesome. i cant wait for the other books + im DYING for the next private book!:) and im pretty excited for the webseries thing, i hope its good. and that they pick a hot thomas!! he was my fave.

i agree. don't pick people that are too young. but i'm so excited. i was reallly hoping for a movie though. oh well a webshow is fine. can't wait for suspicion.

I can't audition for a few reasons. 1) Even I agree with everyone that it would mess up Private if younger girls auditioned. And I'm a younger girl (13) 2) I'm not a US citizen. I wasn't born here. 3) I have NO acting skills whatsoever! lol. Can't wait for it, though!

I totally just read Beautiful Disaster too! I finished like 5 hrs ago, Idk where the time went. It's really intense. I can't wait 4 Perfect Mistake! Ariana (Ana) sorta annoys me tho. It's like she doesn't get it. Palmer has 2 many values. Grr, him! I like Lexa, Maria, Soomie, Brigit, Landon, and Adam tho. They're great ppl. I <3ed the book, Kate! Fabulous! Can't wait 'til September 8!!! Yay! Suspicon! Is it true that the 11th book is called Scandal? I haven't heard that from u, but it's nice to check right? Luv u!

Yeah i agree with everyone! Dont let someone too young play it. I'm 14 but Kiran is around 15 years old so I don't think I am too young :p I uploaded the other scripts on my profile.. if you could check it out that would be great! i'll post the link in a few minutes(:

i just finished beautiful disaster it was soooo good lol at first i didnt like the new series but i like it now private is still my fav but priviledge is good 2 lol i like palmer i wish it woulda went a little further into the breakup of him nd lexa i dont really like her freinds except for maria nd landon nd palmer he sounds cute but anyways i think its weird that katlyn is there i guess she used the 1 mil 2 get in APH nd i agree with the ppl who think young girls shouldnt get cast in the show i think the girls need 2 b at least like 17 or 18 cuz kiran was like a senior so it would make sense not 2 have some1 who is like 13 just my opinion
