Number 7, yay! Ok, so I'm am totally getting this today, but i have to wait for my mom to get home from work first! :( if I were reed, I'd tell all my friends--because the text didn't say she wasn't allowed too--and get them to help too! I still have a few suspects, my main being noelle, noelle and alumni, noelle and Ivy, or Ivy, or Ivy and Sawyer, because they were both mad about Reed getting with Josh :P or maybe Sawyer, Ivy, and Noelle! Those are my guesses, which doesnt really narrow it down. :P Can't wait! But I have to....

i just finished it and all i can say is… OMFG!! so much happend its hard 2 get down on 1 post but i do have 1 thing 2 say… SNAKE!!!! if u no wat i mean how many of you lmaod @ that part? n i absolutly adord the rosh action tho 1 part in particular made me cry :-( **SPOILER ALERT** so im a little on the fence about this whole which thing. i mean ik that privates really unrealistic but seriously. this is taking the series in a whole different direction. its always been about the life of the rich not of magic and witches and fantasy stuff. but noing kate brian shell probably pull it off ;-p

omg that book was awsome i finished it in a couple hours it was so good and no joke i cried when Reed broke up with Josh i felt so bad for him but im happy that they got back together in the end i also loved when Josh got all jelious over Sawyer and Upton it was so cute and i really want reed to tell Josh what Noelle actually did cause i liked how he actually know what was going on with Reed in this book it was a lot better then Reed always keeping secrets from him! but seriously i loved this book and i cant wait for the next one to come out! :)

Finished Vanished in an hourr. (: It was way better than Scandal, although the ending was freaking ridiculous. Everything but the ending was great, though. **Spoiler** I hope Kate doesn't take this whole "witch" thing too far, because if she does, it'll be ridiculous. I must say, I'm excited for Pure Sin and Ominous! I'm a little more hesitant towards Book of Spells, but still excited.

finished the book very early this morning and i must say, truly amazing. SPOILER ALERT! SO SERIUOSLY! DON"T READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK! Okay, so this book was absolutely fantastic, and my favourite scenes are the last scene with josh, and the scene with her dad. So cute :) I also like the scene when Josh comes into her room at night and crawls into bed with her....its like theyve got a built in sense thing that lets them know when the other needs them :) and i'd like to take a second to gloat and say: I knew it! I knew it! I knew it wasn't Ivy from the moment they started laying out hints that it could be her, and i knew noelles grandma was in on it because she was the one they needed a note from, and she easily supplied it. but over all, it was awesome, and the breakup scene totally ripped my heart up! I sincerely hope that Private doesn't go all witchy, but I don't mid about the book of spells being withcy, because thats what happens in that time frame. Anyways, can't wait!

Spoiler alert again! Anyways, there was one thing that confused me at the end. How did going through all those tasks prove that she was noelle's sister? It never really explained that.... I mean, a best friend would do that for her, which is the reason Reed did all that, so how did that prove anything?

SPOILER! i agree i dont understand how that proved her to be a sister but maybe what it proved was that she was ready to see the book of spells. I still think that its a little bit overboard. Like threatening to kill Noelle and making Reed break up with Josh was way over board like i dont understand why all of those things proved she was ready to be NOelle's sister but like maybe there is something else too not just Noelle's sister...

Okay so finished Vanished 3:30 a.m....lol, and it was amazing. I didn't see anything coming. ****SPOILER ALERT****, it was really funny when Reed was talking to Upton on Skype...and Josh walked in...haha....also when Reed had to send the absent form to Noelle's grandmother, my heart literally skipped when she thought about Kiran. Haha, i was like "If only she knew"....Btw, when does the next book of the Privilege series come out?

hey so i have a question. a while back someone say they somehow asked kate about the whole waterstone description thing and kate confirmed that none of the witch stuff was true. so did that person lie (which im guessing they did) or is this witch stuff really not going to be a part of private. i kind of hope it doesnt cuz i think thatd be just too weird. unless its just like another big secret society thing and not really stuff like casting spells cuz id be ok with that.

*Possible spoiler?* "Common Mistakes by New Authors: They don't pick a genre and stick to it." You, are by no means, a "new" author Kate Brian. B you can't write a novel series about spoiled rich boarding school girls and suddenly add a supernatural twist TWO BOOKS till the end. I sincerily hope that all of the rants and raves and reviews of Vanished aren't true. But now I am in no hurry to read Vanished, and I really hope that I am wrong.

Okay well I seriously think that the book has to be about witches cause gma lange kept talking about how "special" Noelle and Reed are and all this stuff about how everything happens for a reason and whatnot. She said that with that key they would find out why they were so "special". If the book is simply Elizabeths diary from when she was in BLS then that wouldn't tell them squat about why they were special. I'm guess Book of Spells is going to be Noelle and Reed reading the book and towards the end find out how it connects to them in some way. We already know that Elizabeth has a lot in common with Reed ie. why they wanted to go to Billings/ Easton in the first place. Btw I LOVE how they are sisters

Okay, this is a bit random, but I think I have a theory of why Jen may have killed herself (it was kind of left out in Vanished): I notice that Mr. Hathaway looks at Reed a lot, and because Sawyer told Reed she reminded him of Jen, he sees his daughter in her. I think that Jen was possibly abused by her father, and was so overcome with guilt that she killed herself. I also think that in Ominous, Reed may also be "abused" by Mr. Hathaway, because of her resemblance to Jen.

I was thinking that while i was reading Sylvia but then i thought If hes so filled with guilt from it why would he set the date of her death as his computer password? I don't think anyone would want to be reminded of a guilt like that 5 or six times a day. I mean, unless hes a complete psycho and killed her himself and got away with it. Using the date as an award or something. I wouldnt be surprised considering how wacked the other characters were.

@Christina, Book of Spells is a prequel so it has to b about before Reed even came to Easton. Just finishd ittt *SPOILER* witches?! WITCHES??!?!? seriosly! can anyone picture Reed swinging around a wand saying agracadabra and making things levatate??? NO! no,no,no. Im gunna b upset if it really is about witches. Other than that tho I adoreddd this book! It reminded me more of how the beginning books were which in my opinion were the best! It stayed true to wat Private really is about xept for the end of course lol i loveddd how Kate incorperated all of the Billings girls like it used to. This is the first time Rose and Tiffany and Amberly and all of them hav actually had lines in a while, and the best part of all...JOSH!!!! and even a lil bit of Upton and Sawyer thrown in the ; ) spectular Kate!!!!

*SPOILER ALERT*When Kate Brian implies that reed and Noelle are witches, or descendants of witches, I don't think she meant it in a wand and broomstick sort of way. I'm not sure how to explain this but has anyone here ever read the book "Rhymes with Witches" ? Well if you haven't it's about a girl who is obsessed with wanting to be a part of an elite group at their high school called "Witches" (with a b in front), and it is later discovered that the first "Witches" at that high school was created way back by a girl who was very unpopular and gather three other very unpopular girls and one night they sacrificed a cat and did this whole ritual thing that gained them an immense amount of popularity in high school. This would explain the "coincidences" with Reed and how everything that shes been put through has happened for a reason.

I read Vanished in like, less than 2hrs. Oh my God,, it was soooooooooooo amazing. I cried when Reed had to break up with Josh, but I'm so glad he figured it out =))))) cuz Josh is my fave character, then Reed, so if they weren't together I'd like, maybe, die???? ahaha. Kate Brian is the most amazing author!!!!!!! and now, the original Billings Girls were witches?!?!?!?! or something like that.......... well that'd be cool cuz i love Harry Potter Private is amazingg ??? xx

It's only polite. if your best friend turned out to be a murderer and suddenly died, wouldn't you still go to her funeral? I would. I mean, I would go to mourn who she used to be, you know?

SPOILER*** so at the end, it doesn't flat out say they're witches. It just says there's a special reason why tey got into Billings. I totally understand why book up spells would be about witches, because it's 1915. Everybody wanted to be witches back them, and there are legends--true or not--that there were witches. I think what might happen is that they're just going to find out that they are related to the people in BLS, so that therefore makes them witches, but they aren't actually going to perform witchy stuff. It's just kind of a reason why they got in, because their ancestors formed the first billings. Just what I think.

But I like screamed when he came back and sayed he knew that that was her last task!!! :) cant wait for the Boook of Spells coming in Novmber 2010. :)

o yeahh josh was kinda short on friends in tthis book, i was wondering bout that too. we no Gage kinda dumped him for Graham, and Dash graduated not to mention madeout w/ Reed, obviosly Thomas is gone so his three main friends r sadly MIA but wat bout Trey Prescott and West and all the other Ketlar boys??? i guess he usaully wantd to sit with Reed but i felt realy bad for him wen she didnt sit with him that one time : ( awww Josh is sooo awesome i hope evrything works out for him!!!!

Yeahh, I mean, he was always sitting alone and when Reed didn't sit with him that one time he was sitting there all alone... Where did his friends go? Gage wasn't the only one left... :( It made him seem like a loner but he's far from it! I mean, I get that he wants to hang out with Reed and all, but there was no encounters where he was with his friends, sees Reed, then leaves them to hang with her...? :( But I'll gladly be his friend1 i love him! In a way, I'm glad Thomas died because otherwise she never would have been with Josh.

*spoilers* i feel really bad about saying it but im not happy at all with how vanished ended. its been realistic fiction for like, what? 12 or 13 books not including the privelege series, and now all of the sudden its fantasy? and the fact reed and noelle are sisters is just too weird. i really wish it had turned out like that, since im usually such a big fan of all of kate's books. but i just hope it gets turned around and noelle and reed arent witches cause thatll just compltely ruin the series in my opinion.

Remember they explained in Vanished how Gage avoids him now cause sawyer and graham don't like him anymore. gage was always all about choosing the "better" side and considering graham and sawyers dad is the headmaster... obviously gage wants to get on his good side and obviously trey and josh are still friends cause they're roomates, but yeah josh lost a lot of friends from fighting with graham in scandal.

Ominous is the next Private book coming out: 2/22 and there will probably be one more after that.

i havn't read vanished .. but **SPOILER ALERT** reed and noelle being sisters ?? as in related sisters ... uhm ... i mean i love them being as like best friends but being sisters ... thats kinda un-realistic isnt like noelle Gorgeous and reed average looking thats how they were describe in the book and arent sisters suppose to have resemblance ? i dont know ... but i trust kate and maybe this is a good thing ... hopefully.

Just finished vanished!!!!! Loved it but **spoiler** seriously I don't get the whole witches thing!! I thought this was supposed to be a realistic fiction book I think I might actually stop reading the series if it turns into fantasy!!! But I realllllyyyy like that reed and Noelle are sisters because now they have an even stronger bond than they had before. And I LOVE JOSH!!!!!!! He is sooooo amazing and it thought it was so amazing when he came into her room and got in bed with her to help her sleep. It was so sweet:) I cried when reed broke up with josh!!!! But some how I just knew he would figure it out:) they are soooo great 2gether!! And yea it was kinda weird that Josh appeared to have no friends didn't he like used to be the "popular guy" of the school???

I completely agree. I loved the book... up until the end. I just kept thinking this cannot really be happening. Honestly, the ending ruined the whole book for me, and possibly the whole series. The reason this series is so wildly popular is because it is realistic. REALISTIC. If this series really turns supernatural, then it will be completely ruined, and I will not read it anymore.

i totally agree with lily i loooved the book until they become sisters? what the heck is that? that just ruined everything this book is kinda getting out of proportion like i love all the twists and stuff but the books are getting kinda worse as they go on like all series usually do. i never through private would be one of them but it is beginning to. and like seiriously magic and stuff? this is kinda getting ... like so unrealistic. and sisters? how did that even get in the picture. that kinda ruined alot for me. like ugh. that's so stupid. sajflsjf i cant even wrap my head around it. and it makes me feel so bad for her dad. and like her mom knew all along. i kinda hate her mom now. she seems like a sl*t. gets pregnant with a rich dude and that goes back to her high school sweetheart. yeah okay.

So I just finished Vanished and of course I loved it! Still, I'm a little confused and upset. First, as others have said above, why is Josh suddenly without friends? I thought he was all popular and liked by most? Second, I love the fact that Reed and Noelle are sisters. They always acted like it, as Reed pointed out. I feel bad for Reed's dad though. But I guess everyone makes mistakes in life, and Reed's mom cheating is hers. Though if she hadn't, Reed would have never been born so I guess it's good that she did. Last, but defiantly not least, is the fact that this book seems to be going the witch way. I love reading all different types of books, supernatural definitely included, but I don't like it in this series. It's supposed to be realistic fiction, not fantasy -- and that's exactly they way I like it. I hope the whole witch thing isn't taken too far. It would really ruin this series for me. :(

***spoiler alert*** yeah, so I officially just finished reading the private series. I rolled my eyes when Noelle said they were sisters, and when I read "book of spells" i legitimately scoffed. what the heck? way to take a series of novels that was so good, a murder mystery series about life in the upper class, and turn it into another "witches and witch school" story. How many growing up witch stories are there? seriosuly, she had a hit and she just screwed the whole thing over. I'm really annoyed, but as of now I'm pretending I never read vanished, and that Suspicion was the last book Kate Brian ever wrote.

you guys, who said Josh was without friends? he chose to isolate himself from the people around him to help out and be there for Reed the only people who don't like him are the hathaways and Gage chose them over Josh.. Josh even says it himself I'm pretty sure he didn't just suddenly lose friends I mean theres Trey, the Ketlar guys, etc just cause he wasn't with a lot of people in this book doesn't really mean anything and about the witch thing.. you'll are just jumping to conclusions at the moment we don;t know what Book of Spells is about believe me I understand exactly why you would assume witches cause of spells, but we have to give it a chance before we just decide for ourselves and obviously whatever happens in the BOS will carry over to Ominous cause of the ending of Vanished.

SPOILER**** and if you read the sneak peak of book of spells in the back of vanished (or atleast it's in my copy of vanished) It clearly read: "Charming girls, fine breeding, perfect manners, black magic. The billings school, established 1915, where all the girls are witches." The private series is officially screwed. Just screwed. witches? really? start a new series or something, but don't taint the beyond amazing Private, cold, hard, murder mystery series, with Reed "glass-licker" brennan, and Noelle "i get what i want" lange, being witch sisters. in my opinion this sounds like a bad book version of "Twitches"

okay so i'm really confused about something when noelle got "kidnapped" she dropped her phone, correct? and when reed got the kidnapping text it got sent to reeds phone so noelle never had her legit phone. how come when SPOILER ALERT*** reed found out at the end it was all a prank when she went to call sawyer from the phone in noelles purse to come pick her up (the phone noelle texted reed from with the assignments) Sawyer answered saying "noelles what up where are you?" or something like that when noelles actual phone was on campus so how could sawyer know the number? do you get what i'm saying?

reed wasnt getting the texts from noelles fon she was getting it from som unknown number (prob grandma langs) and i think reed had noelles fon with her the whol tim cuz she wanted to giv it to her wen she finds her. and the reason she called saywer from noelles fon was cuz her own was outa batery

Wait didnt Noelle have a backup phone? Thats wat Reed told Ivy when she was making up an exuse for Noelles dissapearence. Yeah I think it said Reed grabbed Noelles back up phone out of her bag, which had the same number as her other phone, and thats why Sawyer thought it was Noelle

@Ambika she was stranded on an island in Suspicion for 6 days and then Upton came with a helicopter to save her in the end of paradise lost she was pushed off the boat remember? by paige's mom and sawyer saved her from the water.

I finished reading Vanished as well, and I can see how the ending can be bad, BUT it says that The Book Of Spells is the Private Prequel...Annddddd, after we all read Revelation we found out that "Last Christmas" was going to be a prequel to the private series as well --> which led us to the side series of Privilege, but the Private series still went onto the book Paradise Lost. So shouldn't that mean that even though The Book Of Spells is coming out, the Private series and the Privilege series will still continue? Lets hope so!!!

i dont think every1s being really fair to kate here. u guys hav already desided that the ending was weird and ridiculous and now the private series sucks and that youll never read any more of her books again. but we havent even given her a chance what if this whole witch thing is nothing like we think it is. so i think we should at least reed ominous then decide wether or not kate has ruined the series w/ witch stuff.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!! Ok, Vanished (as expected) was FREAKING AMAZING!!! Yes, I was screaming at my book quite a lot but it all turned out alright by the end. Yes of course another cliffhanger but I could deal with this one, because it wasn't my favorite character disappearing and Reed getting a crazy message!! Which, happened to be from Noelle's grandma which is Reed's too because they are freaking sisters!!! Ahhhh Vanished was soo good and I think revealed almost as many things as Revelation :) Loved it soooo much Kate, cannot wait for The Book of Spells and Ominous!!!! x] Oh and THANK YOU for letting Josh realize the breakup wasn't real because he is soo sweet and they're my favorite couple!! Haha, loved it, as if you didn't already know that by reading all of this post.... :))))

I am so dissapointed in the result of vanished. Honestly I do NOT want to read about dark magic. This series was my favorite because it was more realistic than Twilight and books like that. Just high schoolers at a boarding school and their fascinating drama. Now it will turn into a book like Harry potter or twilight. I don't want to read the next one...

Vanshied was amazing !!! SPOLIER* I loved when Josh realized that reed didnt really want to break up with him!! I never would have guessed it was Grandma Lange that sended the text to reed. The olny thing i did not like about this book was Noelle not being there and The BILLINGS GIRLS!!! Kate you need to give them there house back!Bc there just was not alot of them. Also Bring back the old Billings like Kiran and Taylor and also the guys for the last book! So we caan see what happened to them! That would be a amazing ending for the finally book!!!

**Spoiler Alert** I loved this book so much! Reed & Josh are just the cutest couple ever! When he went in her room & just held her to help her sleep, my heart got all warm. I think Kate was foreshadowing that Josh & Reed are really meant to be after that convo she had with her dad at the end. I def didn't see the whole Noelle & Reed being sisters thing coming. It does explain so much though...In the Book of Spells, I think we're going to find out more about the founders & how they are just like Reed & Noelle. I don't think she's going to turn them into witches lol. I can't wait for the next one! Loved it!!!

So I think that the whole kidnapping-Noelle-to-"see if she was ready" or whatever was a tad bit rediculous..I thought it would have been more interesting if someone really did frame Reed for the murder, but..Kate has her plans ovbiously. Also, I really doubt that they are whiches..Why waste like 10 books before saying this. I'm not quite sure how I liked this book yet..I guess we'll just have to see what happens next..

I'm so so so glad I read it at the store and didn't by it. WHY did they have to test Reed AGAIN? The girl has been "tested" like 5 freaking times. It just didn't make sense. Like I was seriously getting frustrated like Reed after she found Noelle. It may have been better IF Noelle was really kidnapped

Just finished Vanished! I really have no words for it. @ Tyler I have to agree with you. SISTERS? That's cool for like Kiran and Taylor, but not main characters like Reed and Noelle. I wanted some serious drama. Not "we're sooooo freaking special as sisters and we have to test you for the ten billionth time" kind of book. I was a tad disappointed. I hope Ominous is better. Much better!!! AND for the Book of Spells I say Book of $hit is more like it. I don't wanna read about the original Billings in 1917. I want Lange and Brennan in the 21st century. Save the history please. I get enough of that at school. All i gotta say is that there better not be any witch and black magic crud in it. I LOVE the reality of it and now it's getting a little too Hogwarts meets Easton! One other thing: I love Noelle Lange and all, but G-MA Lenora wasn't a Lange to me! Just saying. Sry that this was so long, just had some thoughts about it all.

I just finished reading Vanished and it was AWESOME. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I found the ending really shocking though. I kind of suspected that Noelle and Reed could be sisters, but as for the witch thing, my fingers are crossed. And I agree that putting Reed's life at stake for yet another test wasn't necessary. Anyway, what I like most about this book is Josh. Ah, he and Reed are just so sweet together. I like how he understands Reed and is always by her side in this book. It was really sad that Reed had to break up with him but I'm glad they figured it out. I was so afraid that she'd lose him again. About Josh...why does he seem like he doesn't have any friends other than Reed? I miss the guys. :/ And there's just something suspicious about Headmaster Hathaway haha...

I think the whole witch thing is being blown out of proportion. I think that they just wanted Reed and Noelle to know why they were invited to be in billings, which is because they were related to the First people of BLS/Billings. And yeah, their ancestors may be witches. But I don't think they are going to be. It's just kind of an explantion :)

idk about you guys but im sick of people saying that vanished was awful and that kate's ruined the series and that you're never gonna read another book again. just give her a chance to atleast get another book out before you decide this witch thing suck or not. and I agree with hunter your all blowing it out of proportion and taking it much too literally.

@Jenna, I absolutely agree with you. Did it say they were withces? No. Being descendants of witches and being whiches are two completely diffrent things. It's not like they have magical powers or anything. i, personally, loved the book. I liked the tasks, I loved her and Josh, and I loved being right :) and I loved the ending, the scene with her dad. If they actually do become witches, yeah, it will be uinrealistic and change everything. But the books will still be good. And, come on. Kate's got 12 books now. I can imagine she's running out of plot lines...

omg i loved loved loved it. Kate Brian u r an amazing writer. I finished it in one day i couldnt put it down. I wish ur books were longer. I cnt wait till the next one. I wish they would come out faster. Kate Brian is officaly my favorite author. <3

@jenna and Hunter I agree with you guys completely I just didn't like the last 50 pages because A) I hated how Noelle was never even kidnapped.. considering i actually thought someone kidnapped her cause of how the suspense was raised B) I didn't like how they're sisters.. i mean come on thats ridiculous and then C) I just didn't like how it ended with them reading the "book of spells" i don't care about the book of spells sorry and i most likely won't be reading it. Then just overall the tasks were stupid they weren't relevant to anything that grandma lange and noelle were trying to accomplished. But I liked the book I really did much better than Scandal I love Josh and Reed everything was just great up until the end

I don't like how the next book will be in Elizabeth's time, but i've always loved the private series.. The witches thing i can over, but is there one book out there that doesnt have to end with witches, vampires, or like wizards and that stuff? Can't there just be realistic books?

Read the book, very disappointed. I mean I love the Private Series but I was upset over the ending. Noelle and Reed being sisters I could almost have lived with that. However, the fact that they could be possible witches, that is silly. What I loved about Private was how it was soo different than the Twlight Books. It was a thriller. I would have liked it better if Arianna was the kidnapper or if the girls that didnt get into the secret society did it. It almost makes me not want to read the next one. I have invested so much time and I am truly saddened by this.

@Abigail, I can't say much for your first three points, because I like what happened (it could have been worse with the sisters thing. She could not have been her mom or dads child at all, and noelles full sister. I like how it was realistic that way)But I disagree with the tasks. Because I think what they were trying to prove with the tasks was how far she would go to save Noelle, how worthy she was to know the origins of Billings and blah blah blah :)

@ Add I agree with you on every single point you made. Especially the part about Ariana being part of it. I want the original some back PRONTO! I've always wanted Noelle and Ariana to face each other again!! I was saddened by the whole Reed-Noelle sister thing as well. Come on Kate keep it realistic. I just don't need another harry Potter or Twilight. I want Easton to be Easton not like a Hogwarts!

*****SPOILER***** I dont think everyone shuld jump to conclusions about the whole magical witch factor. Back in the day witches were really just girls who didnt go by the norm in society. you could say they were lik forward thinkers who werenot as conservative as the others. in ch.1 of the book of spells u can tell that she is the kind of person who is almost rebellious for the time, and isnt a typical 1917 woman. basically i just think that they founded the society for all girls who stood apart from the crowd... book of spells is prob just about girls who get into trouble for thinkin differently than everyone else. they might b accused as witches hence her sis told her to be careful. idk its just what i took frm reading it, id be glad to hear other opinions!

Okay, that was the most awful and unrealistic book I have ever read. I know that's probably not a popular opinion but I am entitled to my opinion. I certainly won't bother reading the rest of the series and I'm really disappointed because I used to love the Private series but now it's just become ridiculous. It's like Kate has run out of good story lines and is now using the most dramatic and idiotic storylines possible. I'm sorry, but I can't help what I think.

I'm so disappointed in this book :o( The sisters twist was bad enough, but the witches revelation? I've never felt so let down by a series. I was such a huge fan but now I don't want to read on. I loved that Private series was always a realistic thriller, and I think the supernatural has no place in it. I used to recommend the books to my friends but I'd be embarrassed to now, knowing where the story goes.

I hate the ending, so so much this comment contains spoilers. I felt so let down, as I felt like the sisters twist was really unrealistic, but could have been written into the next books nicely to make it more plausible, however the witches part was ridiculous and the books have take a complete turn for the worse if this is what will happen now. Honestly if this was where they were leading, I would have stopped after the first few books. A lot of readers have been loyal since book one and you introduce this, so late into the plot? Really upset to be honest.

I get why some of you are mad about the ending, but well if you think about it, just because it's a book of spells, doesn't mean Kate's gonna make them out to be LEGIT witches. In the early 1900's there were a lot of witch hunts. Mostly women who were outspoken and didn't want to obey the 'norms' of society. However, if they do turn out to be actual witches, than yes, I agree it IS a horrible ending. I just think that you should wait till 'Book of Spells' comes out before passing judgment.

I kinda agree with Jenna and everyone else about this new direction. I love Private and Vanished was so good, but witches? I mean, I totally want to read Book of Spells, but really? Private's always been realistic fiction, and now, suddenly it's fantasy? Are the last two books of Private (it's two more, right, besdies Book of Spells?) going to be about Reed and Noelle discovering thier witch powers, becasue that would be seriously wierd. I do want to read about Elizabeth and how she meets Teresa, Catherine, and everyone, but if Noelle and Reed delve deeper into this whole witches thing. I think I'd be seriously freaked. But I'll still read the books. Anyway, maybe it won't be as bad as I think. But for Kate, or anyone else, I still have a couple of questions. I can't think of them all right now but one that I remember is who gave Reed the BLS book? Oh, and how did all this magic stuff come about. Well I guess that'll be answered in Book of Spells. Keep writing Kate!

I love love love Josh and Reed together as a couple. They are totally ment to be, they have a total understanding of one another and their conversations together in vanished are pretty funny at times. I was kind of disappointed that the book didn't really say anything else in the end about their relationship. And I was kind of hoping they would hook up already lol. And the whole witch thing, I don't know...but at the same time I love that Reed and Noelle are actual sisters. :)

Honestly... It was weird enough randomly throwing Reed and Noelle as sisters but witches?! You have got to be kidding me. I feel like she ran out of stuff to write about so this is the route she is going. I enjoyed the whole exaggerated drama of the books but this is ridiculous. Andddd I wanted to know more about Josh and Reed. Whatever....I doubt I'll read the next book. Seems silly.

Come on guys, its not that bad. I LOVE how noelle and reed r sisters.partly because theyre my 2 favorite characters, and honestly i think the witch thing is just blown out of proportion, im sure she didnt mean like legit witchs. u have to think back to what time period thats in. I dont think Kate would turn the series into something like that. its probley just another 1 of her little twist.

These books have gotten rediculous. The first arc was amazing and ingenoius. The second arc, while not as good as the first, was still awesome. The third arc is just bad. Not even comparable to the first two. Everything seems completely random, nothing makes sense and the repetive storylines are getting very old. I wish she stopped after the second arc. I will continue reading so I know what happens, and I hope that the story line ends well. I have always thought kate brian to be a genious when it comes to plots and storytelling, but these last books are very off. I will always be a fan of kate and her books, but I cannot hide my disappointment in these last private books

Oh my gosh! Just got the book and finished reading it today (yes a bit late!) but what a twist at the end. I thought N and R must be sisters because there has always been a connection the the witches thing was so unexpected. Maybe though it was a bit too unrealistic, I like the idea of the girls being related to some sort of special thing but magic? Or is it really the sterotype witch? I'm not sure but I really can't wait to hear what happens at Easton next! Do we really have to wait untill Febuary!? I'm not sure I can stand the suspense...

i would really like it if they made Billings house again because that's way better than the literary society thing. also i wonder how many books are left because it seems like Kate Brian is totally running out of ideas. I love the series and want it to continue but is there ANY way it can continue with the Billings house, Billings girls, and Easton with no one trying to kill Reed??? Suspicion and Paradise lost were pretty far fetched with Mrs Ryan and stuff but the first 4 books and the 6-8 books were really good.
