Glass-licker Earns her Nickname

"The ethereal girl spun out of her friend's arms toward the window and suddenly she froze. My heart caught, startled at her abruptness, but it took me a good long moment to realize that she was staring right at me. I had mistaken her gaze as flighty and unfocused, but I saw now that it was the exact opposite. She looked right through me, around me, all over me, taking in everything and turning me inside out. Embarrassed, I looked quickly away, pretending to be preoccupied by something in the room, but it was no use. I had to look back. When I did, she was holding her curtains in both hands, still staring."


Although Reed didn't know it at the time, she'd just caught her very first glimpse of Ariana Osgood through her Billings House window. Ariana had clearly seen her, too, and soon after, it inspired Noelle to introduce herself, Kiran, Taylor, and Ariana to Reed in person. "Now that you know who we are," Noelle told Reed, "maybe you can have a little respect and quit licking the glass."


Ever since, Reed's been affectionately known as Glass-licker.


Love it or hate it, do you have a nickname? Reed's has grown on her. In a way, it's the perfect reminder of just how far she's come.

reed's nickname is great! that is just one of the ways that noelle singles her out from everyone else. plus it eventually reminds reed of some of the good times she had-which is good since there are so many bad times....

Glass licker is original and perfect for Reed. It's cool to see the evolution of her character and how she retains the nickname which still fits even though she is definatley on the other side of the glass now. My nickname as a kid was juicebox, inspired by the early Will Ferrel movie Kicking anc Screaming, but now it's just Jess. I hate Jessie.

I love Reed's nickname, that's something thatb really bothered me that they took out of the web series. I personaly have no nicknames, but I wish I did. I'm hoping to get one next year during my freshman year of high school.

Yeah i always thought it was noelle also and that was when reed saw noelle's mysterious scar. By the way whats with her scar the book never said and i really want to know!!

Reeds nickname is the greatest!!! Also a reason i dnt like the web series!! they changed the best nickname ever into "trailer park" like what the hell is that??

Wait, I alwyas thought the books were narrated like,"Reed looked over and..." or "She looked at...". No? I don't know... maybe i'v gotten so used to the books I don't even realize it anymore? Anyways... Mostly just my dads side of the family calls me Steanbean or Stinee.(Pronounced *StEEny*) So ya. I'll probably look in the books later to see.

I have a couple nicknames: Allie, Lyss, Lyssa and a few others that aren't related to my actual name. Kate: I am loving that we are reliving all these Private moments, but I want to know more about those missing nine months! lol. The suspense is killing me! :D

I love Reed's nickname, though I hate it when Noelle uses it on her when she's angry. Yep, I have a nickname. Reader101. It comes out sometimes when I'm just sitting around reading or annouce I finished a book in a day. (Of course, it's usally Private that I cannot put down (= )

I have alot of nicknames laffy taffy and arielle. Kate i love private and privilege i cant stop reading them. I also thought that it was noelle looking out of the window not ariana. What with the scar how did she get it? I'm excited for scandal to come out.

Kate, i just went through and re-read all 9 of the Private books, and all three of the Privelleged books. Please I'm dying to know what everyones going to do without Billings and what happenes between her and Soyer, Ivy, and Josh. I need to know how everything works out and for once is somebody not out to kill her. just one chapter would make my whole life significant better.

Glass licker. I like it. It's a sign of affection from Noelle to Reed, signifying that Noelle always thought she was important enough to give a nickname to. My friends call me Huns. Or the devil's spawn. i have my moment ;)

Wait, the books arent narrated. They are in first person, im like 100 percent positive.And I have quite a few nicknames. some that I like, some that I hate. I always go by my middle name(Brina) now even my parents call me that lol. And I get called muscels a lot for obvious reasons. One that I hate is big nose :(. ugh how mean. And I remember when I was twelve I hit puberty and started insanly breaking out so I got called pimple face quite a lot. Thank god that cleared up.

Yaqui Jr. That was my nickname. Because I would never shut up as a child, just like my Mamaw Yaqui. It's a nickname my mother gives me when I never stop talking about things (I have a bad habit of saying things and leaving out big details and go straight to the end of whatever I'm talking about--like a book or a class)

my last name is Hokes and my one friend calls me Hooker in the middle of classes! and in pre-school a girl couldn't say my name so she called me ce ce yo yo. I'm also called Celia for short! and i hate it when Amberly calls Reed Glass-licker. i mean its just not meant for her to say it! i love when Noelle says "you slept with my boyfriend i get to call you what a want!" something like that

i love the nickname glass licker for reed, its like totally endearing. noelle singled her out enough to give her as nama. how did you guys think that was noelle? it always says 'noelle's short dark hair' and ariana's 'golden locks.' all my friends call me Jilly-bean. its kinda endearing. oddly enough, i dont get called jill shirt for jillian very often. sometimes people call me a nerd or bookworm cuz i read a lot. haha, but its okay, i dont mind. i HATE jill, tho.

I love the nickname glass-licker for Reed. I love any part with Noelle because she can make things better when everything is going wrong for Reed. I really have one nicknmae: Susie Q. One friend would call me Sus-O and some would say Sus. One time i was called Penguin because i would wear this awesome penguin shirt a lot. but usually im just Susie.

KATE! I sware to you I met Thomas yesterday! I was getting gas and i went in to get a water. Walking in infront of me i see him! tall dark and handsome! He had on a school uniform of which the shirt is bright purple,from my all girls school's "brother" school! he had on one of those beaten up leather jacket and black rich preppy boy shoes, you know like the buisness ones? but we both went for the water. I got a fiji and he got a Dasani. The flirting started with, What to good for Dasani? Ten minutes later, Guess who has a fictional characters phone number! Me!!! Im never calling him and avoiding anyone from that school wearing a leather jacket, I refuse to ruin this fantacy! P.s his name was Nate but that doesnt matter, him name in my phone is Thomas. I'm in love!

I remember one time that it said Noelle flicked her short dark brown hair or something like that, but all the other times it says she has long brown wavy hair. Anyways, OMG I was in Forever21 today and I bought this new adorable white tank top that has these frilies(not sure if thats a word) in the front, and in the middle there is a zipper, but of course i keep it zipped all the way. It would be inappropriate otherwise. But yeah, I just thought I'd share that. I dont know, I was just really bored and I felt like commenting and you know how sometimes you just comment about nothing in particular, well yeah. Im that kind of person. I twitter 24/7 now. no joke. and oooh sarah, one time I met josh. I would tell the story but im sure I already sound like drop dead annoying. haha, though it was a pretty funny story(lets just say it started with a fender bender and ended with him getting my number) lol

I love the nickname Glass licker for Reed. lol. its catchy haha. I have soooo many nicknames from friends, family and coworkers. The Blone one - tho now im back to my natural brunette color. The minor - my older work friends call me that cuz im 17 stil. Oh & they call me princess. Nina, Tina, Cj, (the worst one) TinerWeiner, CJ, Jojo (cuz my middle name is Jo) Umm.. Spaz cuz im always hyper & in a good mood. and i think thats finally it. lol

Sue, haha sadly his name was not Josh. It was Mac, but like how sarah said, his name is Josh in my head. I met him like a week ago, my sister was backing up out of a parking space and I guess she thought he was backing up also and she ended up hitting him. anyway we got talking and now we're going to the movies tomorrow after school, since I dont have school on Friday ^-^ He has the blonde curly hair so when I saw him I was like 0_0 OMFG ITS JOSH HOLLIS. ahaha, im a loser...CURSE YOU PRIVATE FOR MAKING ME SO OBSESSIVE. *shakes fist in the air*

Ugh, I have nickname, but it's so random no one understands it. My friend and I have inside jokes that begin our nicknames, so they constantly change. I Think that Reed's nickname in a way, suits her, I guess we've just become acoustomed to it, but I can see that actually happening to someone. I guess that helps.

People call me by my name, sue yan, most of the time but a few of my friends call me sue so it's kinda like my Internet name, actually. Haha. I used to be teased by being called 'susu', which means milk in malay, by a few schoolmates back in primary school and also certain relatives but thank god that's been placed as the past. Haha

Glass-licker's a really cool nickname but every tom, deeek (sheesh, it's a blacklisted word) and harry would naturally get annoyed sometimes when it is used in their most horrendous situations, especially when it's used by wannabes like amberly carmichael. Haha

dude i am like sooooo freaking excited for scandal i cant wait and by the way imma girl so don't get confused by my name and language. i got started reading your books because i was supposed to do independent reading which i ended up not doing i don't read normally but like 5 months later i looked at private again and i read it i loved it so much i kept going back to borders buying 3 books at a time and reading all those books 1/day my mom got annoyed but its rare to stop an addict well then i started getting my whole school to read them (i go to a girls school with the total of17 kids) and one day we all dressed as our favorite character in the book but 2 people couldn't be the same person so i was mrs.ryan from suspicion and i went nuts trying to kill my friend who was reed :P don't worry shes not dead

lol i have a nickname and its either KK or Pamela (Anderson). I couldn't say my name as a kid so it was KK and i grew up with big boobs so i got the name Pamela. a long way from Katelyn right?
