I think what really puts all these Reed-haters on edge is that she is different than all of them but still catches guys attention and has Noelle Lange's approve( which we all know is hard)!!!

i agree with mikaila.... i think Reed is different from all the girls in her school and in that privileged world.... she IS down to earth, she IS strong, real, etc. I think that's why guys are intrigued with her, and pay her more attention than the others.... this is a good message for the rest of us, lolz, even if it doesn't seem that guys REALLY want a down to earth girl :P.... i'm SOOOOO excited for scandal!!! AHHHH! and i'm totally team BROLLIS!!!! :) :) go Reed and Josh!!

I don't think Reed is a crazy magnet, I just think she is different like others have said. She doesn't come from a rich and snobby background, she is so down to earth! They are actually just jealous. By the way, I hope you are happy that I'm totally obsessed with this series and sit with my friends and randomly blurt out something like Reed almost slept with Dash or Thomas Pearson died. I've read all of the series, and all my friends know what happens because I CANNOT stop talking about. Haha. I have gotten a bunch of people to buy the books. The only thing that sucks is that it seems to take longer for me to get a copy of the book cause I live in Scotland. :( Not too fair. Love you Kate Brian, please keep the books coming. :)

Seriously, you inspired ME to write a novel......I'm almost done....I actually agreed to do it as a Senior Options project for the second semester! I'm so excited! AND! There's a question that I've been DYING to ask you...... you know how Ariana goes to school in the privilege series? And you said that Sabin is her little sister......how come she's never mentioned in Ariana's thoughts? Because wouldn't Ariana take dramatic measures to get Sabin out of jail too? Kate it's so good to see a new blog two days in a row! you inspired me to write my own novel too..its a work in progress. i think reed is a crazy-magnet because she gets all the guys, evne though shes not rich. and shes in and loved by noelle, which many have tried and failed at. and shes normal and real-she doesnt put on a fake act like a lot of the other girls seem to do. i love her for that, cuz ive had bad experiences with people like that. <3 Rawyer. can't wait for scandal!

Welcome back!I'm glad you've come back i kept checking up to see if there was a new blog on! I think that the guys like reed because she's so different from the girls they're used too-who are used to the 'good life' and take it for granted- where as reed is, as you say down to earth. Girls hate her because they're jelous I think that's what it comes down to. She seems to bring the phsyco out of them.I was wondering though..in paradise lost..reed kept seeing blonde hair out of the corner of her eye..was she just imagining??I know who tried to kill her and all that but still?Btw I love this series. You have got me addicted. I think my friends just roll their eyes at me now when I mention Noelle-my favourite in the series. :D I love how strong willed she is.-or kiran or who tried to kill who. Girls feed off of drama. Boys like reed and that gives them a reason to hate her. We are all jelous. Girls, I mean. I guess girls can't get enough drama. The biggest enemy is always the girl that the boys like! BTW I think Reed should have a fling with Sawyer, BUT ultimitely, Reed and Josh are soulmates, they NEED to be together. Please Kate! Well, Reed's a boy magnet. Not in a bad way, i mean, that's a good thing. Girls will rip each others heads off for a guy, and that's what makes them so at war. Sabine was just trying to get revenge for her sister, I can understand that (a little). OH MY GOSH Kate said my name in her blog! Yay! (: I agree with Tyra Ann. Reed isn't desperate for a boy. She's not all over a guy. When she wants him, she's very subtle about it. EX. Upton. All the girls were all over him, and Reed's just like "yeah, whatever, if he wants me, he can go to me." She's just so laid-back and so real. I'm sure in some ways, we can all relate to her. She's different from all the rest of the girls, who are so into fashion while Reed's with a Nike watch and sneakers. She doesn't crave for $, her friends just offer.

Wow two posts in two days..... youre spoiling us Kate!! ;) (but dont stop we love it!!) I think Reed threatens these girls because she's pretty, all the guys like her, she's good at sports, smart, and she's not afraid to stand up for herself. They can normally just push girls like that around. But with Reed, it's different. They aren't able to push her around because she's too strong. The only thing they have over her is money and even THAT she seems to always be able to get ahold of somehow.....

Ava is also right. That's why she's such a magnet. Boys love her down-to-earth nature, and girls depise her for that. I honestly don't think Noelle and the rest of the Billings could live like Reed does. It's what makes her so different. She didn't come from million dollar jets and all of that. She had to make something of herself. Guys like that about her.

i love the name haven, and i dont belive that reed is a crazy maghanet i think that girls are just jealous of her cuase she speaks her mind to whoever she wants but is not always mean about it. and is down to earth, she doesnt have alot of money and is not self centered like all the girls at easton and thats why i think boys like her so much.

I think it's all down to Reed's personality. She's different fromt the typical "Billings Girl" because she's not all entirely about parties, and I think guys can relate to her more. She's different and unique, and isn't afraid to back down from a challenge. ALTHOUGH, I think Reed is a sort of a crazy magnet is because she follows her heart more than her head. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but lets use Thomas and Upton for example. Thomas was clearly the "bad boy" on campus and Reed couldn't stay away, even when she found out he did drugs. Upton was a definite player, and Reed never hesitated to remind him, but couldn't seem to stay away from him. I think when Reed ignores the warning signs about someone, that's when things go bizare for her (unfortunatly). But if you look at it this way, because of all these terrible experiences, Reed has become even more stronger and wiser than before, and I'm sure she'll think twice about doing something she feels is risky.

hey, kate!!! ok, so i dont think that reed is a crazy magnet, but i do think that grls go crazy tryin 2 ruin her life cuz theyre so jealous of her. see, all the guys luv her (i know that gage does 2, deep inside, or else he wldnt bother wasting his time on messin with her) cuz she is so real n pretty, which makes the grlz jealous cuz they try so hard 2 get guys, but they never get them easily cuz theyre so fake, but it just comes naturally 2 reed. n i luv how reed is so strong, yet can b so vulnerable. this attracts guys, i guess, cuz they find the strength in her sexy, like shes miss indipendent, but at the same time, they wanna come 2 her rescue n just hold on 2 such n amazin grl :D

kimella, i completely agree with you! oh and i asked if you guys like the name haven cuz thats what my aunt named her new baby girl. :-)i still can't think if a cute guy name! i want to use sawyer, cuz ive loved that nme since before private, but then i feel like sawyer won't fit the guy in my book because of private sawyer's personality. any more suggestions? i was thinking elijah, eli for short.

Sometimes I do, but like all of you said it's coz of her down-to-earth style n also coz she's strong but vulnerable at the same time. That's something reed and I have in similar besides not being a total party girl and not making money our first priority since we're from a middle-classed family.

I think Reed is a novel thing in the circles she walks. The down to earth type isn't one the boys are used to, and so they fall for the poor scholarship kid that's tough and spitfire.

What I think the reason girls don't like her and guys adore her is because, well, she's different. Before she entered the world of primped, privileged, and money, she knew that money doesn't bring happiness so she tried to find it on her own without it. That's why she's so down-to-earth. I think the guys like her because she's different and it's not that they see someone who's ... shall we say "not as rich" as the rest of them and they find her interesting and Reed just has this loveable quality. @M, I'm a huge Reed-Sawyer fan. It's like he's a male version of her in a way.

The Billings Girls and other girls in these books are jealous their parents expect so much out of them and their under so much pressure and Reed is free to do what ever she wants, she doesnt have to live up to some ig family name or anything i think thats why the guys like her to she can be kind of care free i guess

I think the thing about Reed is that she is a survivor. And I think that intimidates the other girls around her. The expiriences she has had frighten other people, and even more so, I think that they feel thretened by her positive attitude despite her past. And susequently, I think thats what attracts the guys to her, her confidence and strength.

Thank God you're back Kate!! I missed your blogs!!! In the mean time, I bought Ex-Mas and I'm gonna start reading it soon!!! And I cannot wait for Scandal because I missed Josh!! I agree with many of you guys, I think that its the way Reed is that attracts the guys. She is a down to earth, NORMAL, girl, and I think for the guys thats a nice chance from all the 'rich' girls who think that money can get them whatever they want, guys included. Also, Reed is Noelles best friend and that is another thing that sets her apart from everyone else. Noelle is hard to get along with. So I think all of this grouped together is what brings out the CRAZIES.

Reed is just liked by everyone. Even if she does something wrong, someone is there to fix it for her or she'll fix it on her own. Her naive personality just makes her easy to become a target when she does not realize she did something wrong. Also, her obliviousness to looks just makes the boys want her on top of the personality. Jealousy brings out the worst in people.

i think that Reed is something new to the people at Easton. She doesnt come from money or a strong blood line (per rich ancestors). Shes almost like an outsider to them. i dont think they are used to seeing a "normal" person come so far so quickly and survive through so much. I think its jealousy, amusement, wanting and curiosity that makes people fight against her. She's not necessarily a magnet to crazy people but i think she fell into a crazy person pit the minute she stepped into easton! ha ha ha... dont get me wrong i love the school but a plastic smile and endless amounts of money can cover anyones deepest darkest secrets...i think reed is just helping them all come out whether she wants to or not! p.s.KATE I'M GLAD YOU ARE BACK TO BLOGGING. Reed has such a strong personality that guys and girls love to be with her most of the time. Nothing can faze her at least on the outside and she has good intentions even in the worst situations. But some girls r soo jelous that she is so naturally beautiful and nice when they arent even with all there money, so they take it out on her. And most of the real crazies hated reed because she was with the boys that they wanted and that can make any girl jelous. She can even make the player quit the game without trying, and boys love her "hard to get" ways cuz they want what they cant have. Reed is just amazing! cant wait for scandel, <3 Kate!!!

I just actually have bought and read the whole series so far in the past week! I absolutely love--love it!. I think the reason why Reed is hated by so many is due to her since of being "normal". She's beautiful, smart, funny, and not one of them--which makes her more down to earth. Half the girls that have been after her are used to being spoiled.. Getting whatever and whomever they want, but when Reed comes to Easton; they don't have that privilege anymore. The guys are more appealed to her--not because she's new.. But because she's different!. And I really think that Reed and Sawyer would make an amazing couple!

Yay! Kate you're posting again! :) I think Reed sort of is a crazy-magnet. Not in a bad way though. Well, not that being a crazy-magnet is a good thing. Its not her fault that all those girls are jealous of her being normal, she can't help who she is. Most of them are spoiled brats and they're not able to realize that all the guys love Reed because she's real, there's no faking with her. She's real, and thats what makes her different from everyone else. I can't wait until the next book comes out! I love this series soooo much! Please dont stop writing anytime soon kate! So, I did a book talk for English on one of the Privilege novels. I had to do a summary, and let me say, it was one of the hardest thing that I've ever done. But the books are great and probably one of the best series that I've ever read!

@katie mac exactly. Or at least bring reed and josh back together, Kate. :) I agree that rees and sawyer might have a go but it seems like reed and josh were made for each other. Let's hope he won't be one of the unfortunate victims of murder or something in the end. On a happier note, the release date of scandal is drawing closer... I how Kate will give us a preview of the book!

omg! private series is the best series of all time! youve inspired me in so many ways kate and i am truly and happily addicted to your books. I know everyone isn't into writing. It just the fact that everyone has their own little stories to write about. i think it kinf of funny. That way, when SCANDAL comes out people will go: "I wrote about that! iT'S IN THE BOOK!"

I'm with JMT managment hbu? i got to go to new york last summer for like 3 weeks of runway competitions and auditions with cast directors and all the people in the biz from CA I LOVE it right now i can only do it part time because of school but when i get out of school i plan to start doing it full time

katie mac, thats so cool! I used to be with Cosmo girls in New york, but now I'm starting up with fitch. its crazy hard and a killer consider all the other outside school activities i still have. My sister is sooo lucky, she's in vogue but it is pretty hard for her because she is a senior in highschool so like you said, she only models part time. And shes always flying back and forth from alberta to new york. Its crazy, but I would kill to be in vogue. BTW do you guys ever find it hard to balance all of those things? cause I have like volleyball, soccer, hiphop, ballet, modern, acting, modeling, and school.

@ Brina i have school modeling/acting soccer basketball lacrosse friends babysitting skiing and snow boarding club SADD club AWARE club sunday school youth group indoor soccer and then im VP of the youth group so on top of normal youth group i have to go to extra meetings so yes i find it very hard to balance every thing

wooooow, oh man that would drive me crazy. I baby sit too, cuz I have twin 2 month old sisters. And I have pre leader ship which is only for grade eights with straight As. So next year I autimatically get in leader ship 9 so I'll get to go to Paris in may. But now we're having all these fundraisers at my school so every thursday we have to get together and think of ideas to get all the parents to get money. haha so far we have like 10 grand because this one guys parents got really drunk at the galla and pledged more money than they realized. too good!

my dad does that all the time and he doesnt even have to be drunk. The fundraiser that we got the most money out of was when the guys and even most of the male teachers had to race in high heels. It was drop dead hillarious!

Beautiful. The boys varsity soccer team had team spirit, which is done the day before a game, and one of the team spirits was cross-dressing. Girls varsity swapped clothes with Boys varsity. So, you would see guys in short skirts with their hairy legs, tight shirts. It was attractive. Really. Not. This lunch lady started crying because she saw a guys' ass apparently. Anyway, he got suspended. Haha. He's back though, so it's all good.

@ kerri, i only have 2 chapters so far if you want me to send them to you-just let me know. @i get what you guys mean by me having to balance. i have school with four advanced placement classes, meaning tons of homework, tumbling/ gymnastics, friends, babysitting for family, pretty soon im starting swimming and water polo, im in like three clubs at school meaning at least three meetings a week, and im in a program called PAL, and we do stuff for our school, meaning times on weekends and after school and stuff. im busy. :)

Yeah, they have. I mean, it was predictable. A tomboy girl from a blue-collared family entering a world of wealth and privelege? Of course her perspective of things changed! She went from hanging with Missy, Constance, and Diana, to hanging out with the richest sons and daughters of the country AKA Ketlar boys and Billings Girls. At first, Reed was this naive, quiet girl who was trying to take on a new life and start over, now she's party girl, "I underage drink," and she's slept with guys already. I mean, I like that she's changed and not so boring anymore, but she really needs to remember where she REALLY came from.

I think now that Reed has become "one with the high class," she's still the same Reed we know, but she's also different. Before, she would never really stick up for herself because she wanted to please the Billings girls so much. Not, she's able to do so towards those that try to push her down. I think through the series, Reed has become strong, but a little arogant at the same time. With the power she's gained, she may think that she's invincible sometimes because of her friends and power. And I think that this "arrogance" or "confidence" sometimes rubs people the wrong way.

Yeah, Reed HAS become a little arrogant. Don't get me wrong, I love her character, but she can be kind of...whiny. Like when Noelle and the other girls kicked her out of Billings. She was basically saying stuff like "Why am I sitting with these girls in jeans and torn sneakers?" "I'm not supposed to sit with these people, just the Billings Girls." I just wanted to tell her "Don't forget you're the one in jeans and torn sneakers too."

***Spoiler if you havent read up to Revelation*** wow i havent been here for like a day and there are like 30 more comments, about reed not being down to earth i agree that she has changed i mean it would be hard not to the reason she went to Easton in the first place was to change but when she got kick Billings she really crashed and was back at rock bottom i think she has gotten so used to the life of privillage that shes kind of forgotten how life is with out it, the only thing i can think to compare it to is when you take an animal out of the wild and put it in captivity then you cant release them back in too the wild because they've forgotten how to fend for themselves

She was down to earth but then she started flirting with dash and she got kicked out of billings and had to hangout with the "losers" and she hated it but thats how she used to act too, all she cared about was getting back into billings. okay why I think that Reed has changed a lot from the first book to now but honestly I dont think that she is a crazy magnet. She may have been through a lot of stuff but she cant help that guys like her for who she is and girls are just jealous of her becuase she has want they want and cant seem to get. Some crazy stuff has happened to her but in the end she has always come out as the one on top no matter what. Now concerning Josh and Reed, Kate you seriously need to put them back together this series is good but what makes a good book is a great love story and that is what they are, and plaeas DO NOT put her with Sawyer I think that would be a HORRIBLE mistake.

I don't think Reed is a crazy magnet. I think she just gets into sticky situations a lot. I also think that since she is so real and natural a lot of guys like her which makes girls jealous of her. And since she has Noelle as her best friend that will also make girls even more jealous and maybe even feel threatened by her.

My dad's in the military so we moved. I was there when May's Fury struck. I was three, so i don't remember much besides hiding in the closet and crying for my sippy cup.

Heyy! This is my first time blogging on this website and I just finished the book Revelation! OMG it was soo good! At first, like Reed, i was totally convinced that it was Ivy. But then Ivy was innocent! i never would have imagined that it was Sabine. I cannot wait for the next book because i have no idea what happened becuase all it said was the Sabine shot and Josh jumped infront of Reed. I hope he is okay. @ Katie Revelation was hard for me to read i got so sad for reed and i got mad so i stopped reading it for lik a week but then i couldnt resist and i so did not see the Sabine thing coming either though i never i liked her so i wasnt sad to see her go and you have Paradise Lost i love that one!

I have never seen a tornado either. But I live in Alberta so its way more common to have snow storms and that. But today it was a lot warmer, the sun was even out, yay. And haha I had to change into my shorts because I slipped and got my sweats all wet and muddy. It was hillarious. And jeeze, does anyone else get paranoid while reading the Privileged series? 'Cause I had to like close my curtains and turn my closet light on because I kept thinking someone was watching me. Especailly the part in Perfect Mistake where they are talking about the cursed dorm where some girl killed herself with a carving knife. Talk about creepy

Ugh. I hate embarassing parts in the book. Remember in Ambition when Reed went to go talk to Josh in the art cemetery? I put down my book and said "i will not read this. I will NOT read this." In the end, i picked it up and read it. cringing all the while. especially when she tried to say I love you to him. that broke my heart "(

ugh I know. And you know what I did? after reading those parts I would like make up a new part in my head. hahaha. I would end up dreaming about them getting back together. I used to be the biggest Josh fan ever!! Oh and you know the part when reed is like eating after getting rescued. kk that part leaves sooo many hints that sawyer likes her. 'cause people think shes gone crazy and hes standing up for her. pointing out that she was on an island alone for six days...wait, was it six days or more?

@Brina, I would do the same thing. I used to be obsessed with Josh and Reed getting back together so I would make up my own little happy endings :) But now I am leaning toward becoming a Rawyer fan. I can not wait to see if they get together because it is so obvious that he likes her, now we just have to establish that reed likes him back. But I'm going to have to go to sleep now because it is almost 12am.

hahaha lol Trya ann thats kind of odd. and Katie mac, thats how I am. Like I start to feel for the character. Even Ariana is now starting to grow on me, and we all know what kind of person she really is. And yeah I had to do a book report and I did it on the first Private book. My teacher was like "are you sure this is appropriat?" im thinking like 'pssh no of course not' but I was like "yeah, it is" haha. Its just for a more mature audiance. Thats what I love about Kates books, she knows what really goes on in the world of teenagers and she doesnt pretend like its all unicorns and rainbows

@ Brina, when i was reading the privelege books, i always would close my blinds, shut my door and closet, and turn on the lights, and the tv for background noise, haha. :) WHenever i read books i feel the same emotions as the character, like whenever reed would find a new "present" in her room, and get all freaked out and scared, i would too!

I don't think Reed draws in crazies, I think that guys just like how down to earth she is. She doesn't care about materialistic items like the other girls do. Her lack of wealth is what I think the guys find interesting about her. Paige and all those other girls are just jealous that they cant but thta kind of attention with all their money.

AAAAH omg my abs hurt so much. thanks you guys. And I know that there isnt really much information about the character himself, but I did that purposly. It's because in my opinion, if a story unfolds to quickly it doesnt hold the readers attention. Besides it's only the begining :) and oh my gosh, my mom was telling me how she thinks I should go to the doctor because I may have badly pulled a muscel and I was like "I'm sure I'll live" because I hate going to the doctors. Anyways, now I'm pretty sure I'm dieing! hurts so bad!

omg! at our first soccer game this past season i pulled my quad worst pain ive ever been in i couldnt bend my leg for a week! though dnt worry your not dying when you pull something you just ice it if you have a hot pack those things are amazing and massage it

i think its because reed get everything the haters want when she just some poor loser to them, i love reed, but araina was crazy cause reed got thomas, and ms. ryan was mad cause reed got upton... do u get my point? but i think reed got all the guys cause she was so diffrent in a better way

Every bit of hatred directed at Reed is based around jelousy. Ariana, Poppy, Paige. Sabine was just doing a job for a jelous girl. It's her beauty and good nature that gets her into trouble.

I think that when it comes to the guys that she has a warm personality and she a generally good person unlike some others so guys are just drawn to that. when it comes to the girls Reed just attracts guys because of her warm personality and I think that not only are girls jealous that she gets all these guys but also they want to be more like her and for some reason can't so they lash out at her.

Well-- it's been awhile since I've visited the blogs, Excitedd to see so many posts for me to comment on =) I don't think Reed is a "crazy-magnet" as everyone else has so quite eloquently put. She's just a small town girl who apprecitated the little things evryone else around her at Easton takes for granted. The fact that she wasn't born with a silver-spoon in her her mouth just gives her a different point of view on life . Guys like different and Reed is definetly that !
