wow. i like Ariana sometimes. i like the way she always thinks 2 steps ahead. but i dislike her because when things get rough she takes the easy way out. instead of taking the road less traveled by. not a wise choice, but its Ariana. ~ily dannyjoe<3~

i think what makes Ariana compelling is that she thinks differently than anyone and you never know what she is going to do next, she keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I hated Ariana until I read Last Christmas. It humanized her in my mind. Suddenly instead of being a ruthless bitch she became this vulnerable and seriously messed up girl who just wanted to fit in and be loved. She's compelling and twisted and more human than anyone could give her credit for. She's a heartbreaking character because I don't think she's ever going to get it right. I can't wait for Paradise Lost. It's coming out on my birthday so it's like HELLO BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!! And please do write more. It's very nice to hear from my favorite author.

oh wow STEPH im jealous now :[ HAHA so i love Ariana's character becuase shes smart, and like alot of people her heart was smashed (most people slap thier exs, and then say how we want to kill them (we just never do!)) though shes crazy i love how stuborn she is when it comes to Thomas and other victims, and i love/ hate how she thinks living the life of Brianna Lee is going to make up for the fact that she killed the poor girl. ok, so some of us have been talking about continuing the books into college, and i would like to know if you have ever thought about it? also can you eave comments on here? cause it would be cool to see all our answers questioned if we post them i know your schedule is crazy but it would be sooo cool!

First off, I love the name Ariana. Okay, I think I like Ariana because although she has murdered a couple people, I can't help but feel sorry for her. She has been through so much with her family and with trying to fit the mold of girls like her (I use the term "like her" to mean pretty and weathly.) I love her habit of noticing details and I couldn't help but hoping that things would work out for her when I was reading Privilege. It's a little weird because when I read the Private series, I am team Reed all the way. But, I like Ariana too.

Hey, Privelege was really good. I was not expecting any of it at all, espically the end. Your such a good writer (: Although I found myself getting excited everytime it mentioned Easton or one of her old friends haha. But I can't wait for the next book in either series. Also I was thinking, even though I doubt you would do it but maybe something to consider? Writing the first book of Private in Thomas' point of view. I think it would be really good, I feel like I didn't really get to know Thomas because he did so early, and then after I read last christmas I want to get to know him more. Like I said I doubt you would do it but maybe I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love it. (:

I couldn't finish my first one (i was at school and my teacher was coming) but another thing that i think makes Ariana a compelling character is that her mother is all depressed and she was trying to be too perfect so she eventually snapped. It also doesn't help that Tomas broke her heart and then tormented her. In a way i feel sorry for her. hehe <3

well i think that since she is a bad girl i like her its weird because i never suspected her of anything throughout the books. i know she is crazy but i love that about her. most of the books i read are the old the sweet red head who isnt popular and then falls in love with a popular guy who really likes her instead of the cheerleader. but you never hear about the bad girls which is why i love your books so much i think that the characters are realistic. which is why i love these books sooooo much!!!

Ariana is such a strong character...she knows what she wants and she isn't afraid of the risks there are to get it. To me I've always thought of her as a psycho..i meaning killing Sergei and Melissa and the love of her life! I don't know she certainly isn't my favorite character, but at the same time I want everything to work out for her. I felt sooo bad about what happened to her at the end of Privilege and I wish she could be Ariana Osgood and have the life she wanted because like you said she is vunerable and can be taken over by even a crazier psycho! But all in all yes she's not my fav character but she is still someone who I hope her life turns out okay.

Ariana.... well, i love to hate her and i hate to love her! I mainly hate her because A. she tried to kill reed B. she Killed Thomas c. She's just plain mean But then i love her because A. we see that she isn't as perfect as we thought B. when the story is from her point of view, she seems nice and has good instincts C. she reminds me of myself, she's determined and never lets anything slide. So you see, it is hard to chose between hating her and loving her. =)

I think that Ariana's compulsiveness is what makes her interesting to me. She always acts on a sudden thought, even if the process takes her awhile. She does horrible things to make her life better, even if it makes other's worse. I still can't decide if I love her or hate her, though. ;) tallycat

Well, for me it is that she is so different from other characters. There are so many ways that you Can't realate to her yet when it comes to relationship or just everyday stuff you realize there are ways that we Are like her, but just not in a weird killer person type of way lol. With Arianna anything is possible in the plot. She has a sudden reflex to do the worst thing when it comes to dealing with people so you are always wondering what she is going to do next. Great writing Kate, keep it coming! :D

Wow! You posted a new blog! Yay! Anyways, interestingly I found that I actually do somewhat care for Ariana. When I read LAST CHRISTMAS, I've got to admit that I hated her. I couldn't keep the fact that she killed Thomas, out of my head. Whenever Ariana felt good about herself, I didn't feel happy for her. As I would if something good happened to Reed. But when I read PRIVILEGE, I found myself actually taking Ariana's side for certain situations. Though, I was terribly sad and angry at Ariana that she killed Briana. Sure, we were lead to think that Briana was horrible but killing somebody is never the answer.

ELLIE && AMANDA: I totally agree with what you said Amanda. About how crazy Ariana is by thinking that she can live Briana Leigh's life for the better(going to school) to make up for Briana's death. ELLIE: I've always talked to my friends and my cousin about how it would be great for Kate Brian to write the first Private book in Thomas' POV. I mean, it would totally clear up how Ariana interacted with him and show us what Thomas was thinking and feeling. Thomas is such a mystery. What makes Ariana a inquisitive character? The beautiful, dangerous aura that just seems to magnate to her. The compelling mind games that seep through all her actions. Or maybe its the realization that a privileged girl who's life is down the toilet is still someone we very much want to be like. Not the same mistakes and consequences but the same cleverness, beauty, and prier innocence. Shes the girl every one wants to be and shes the girl everyone wants to hate but surprise, surprise, we cant hate Ariana. We find her interesting compelling, alluring and gravitate to her. Nobody said life was fair but lets just say the new classmates of the ever faithful (heavy sarcasm) Ariana are in for a wild ride.

adrianna is murderous, vengeful, and a little hypocritical. but what's so interesting about her is that, despite all of the things she has done, she still has a conscience. she cares about people, and all she really wants is to start over. i actually really feel sorry for her because thomas was the one who went after her first, and when they're finally together, he goes after reed. that has to hurt. i can't justify arianna's actions and do not agree with them in any way. but i do understand WHY she does them, i just can't understand HOW she does them, yet still has a conscience when she steals a little kids boat.

I'd don't really know...Maybe because she called''her boyfriend'' and almost called the main charcter in the series...but i also feel bad for her because she has to be lock up in the prison...but she escaped to so it doesn't really matter about that part. Its just some reason that I can't trust her that much and I know how much shes been through...but theres still no reason to kill her almost boyfriend

Ariana is such a compelling character b/c (as everyone else has already pointed out in their own way) u get 2 c in2 the mind of a "bad guy". I always wanted 2 b the bad guy and sneak around and do all that stuff if: a) It didn't hurt anybody. b) I would not get hurt/caught in the process. :-) (Ik that sounds bad, but that's just the way I think) U get to c her flaws which is really nice. U get 2 experience the power she has over ppl and the trouble that she's in all at the same time. U get 2 understand her POV & reasoning w/o some1 interrupting. I definately agree with Steph. Ariana is a character who has major flaws. It's different(in a good way) to read about someone who isn't perfect. Not that Reed is perfect, but Ariana has done major crimes and it's nice to read how she wants to change her life around. Ariana is also a strong person. I really respect her for keeping strong when she saw Noelle, Kiran, and Taylor at her funeral. Especially her mother. Ariana is also strong by letting go her necklace, and putting it on Briana Leigh when the police would find her. It was her most precious treasure. Ariana is a strong girl.

I think it would be sooo great if you somehow integrated the Ariana's old friends( reed, noelle, josh, kiran, etc) into the privledge series. I know it would be really hard and probably wouldn't happen, but I think it would make the series soo much more amazing!! Also it would be cool if we were reading private and we could find out what all those characters reactions were to her escape/missing/death. Also i can not wait to find out what happens with Katelyn, and that guy that thinks she goes to easton. I am sure THAT will be a great story line, in both books. This series has SOO much amazing potential I can not wait. My one real hope is that you don't cut out Ariana Osgood compeletly and that some of her past still comes into play!!!

Kate. i think your books are super fab. Ariana as a character really has a vulnerable side - which i think makes everything she does even more tragic. It really gets emotion out of the readers sometimes frustration - pity - surprise ~ a whole range. I think even though we want to hate Ariana we are drawn to her because , like us, she has her insecurities. PS i really don't think you should make a tv series. It would really promote your books..which is definitely an upside but people would only think it's a sort of copy like gossip girl.. AND plus i think the books are always way better..it's so hard to find a character that you beautifully made up and convey it on a screen..

The way you set up Ariana as the killer was absolutely perfect and unexpected in the first four books. I thought she was some innocent little southern belle but she had more facets than just her image. She was what a true billings girl was, perfect on the outside, but absolutely wacked and complicated on the inside. Last Christmas showed her endearing side, and she's probably my favorite character because she's the most multi-faceted(others could say Bi-Polar) of all the characters. She jumps to waaaay too many conclusions(like in Privileged with the whole murder thing, again) but don't we all? She's the most realistic and unrealistic at the same time. She has dreams and NOTHING will get in their way.

I asked my parents at least 10 times 2 pre-order Paradise Lost and finally I had to tell them and look over their shoulder 2 make sure they were doing it just so it would happen. If she was dressed up as Briana, they would probably recognize her and then they would end up killing her cuz she took Thomas's life. The "suicide" reactions will most likely take place in Suspicion or the unknown book following it. Sarah: I agree w/u completely, but Private is NOT like Gossip Girl. On that show (or so I've heard) they just sleep w/guys every day of the week and they have pathetic "drama". Private is so different from Gossip Girl. Every person (that I know) that has ever picked up a copy of Private has though it was fabulous. They read the rest of the series asap afterward. My favorite character in the Private series has always been Reed (my name is also Reed.) But when I read Last Christmas, i really started to like Ariana. I felt so bad for her in Privilege. She seemed so vulnerable! I felt really bad about what Thomas did to her as well (even though I think him and Reed are a better couple.) If a guy did that to me, i would probably be crushed. I can't wait for Paradise Lost! I hope Reed and Josh work it out.

okay, this might sound crazy but Ariana is my FAVORITE character... after reading Last Christmas and Privilege, i saw it from her point of veiw and it, er- sorta, made sense. i love the fact that she is taking control of her life and trying to start over.. but i don't like most of the choices she makes. but that's Ariana. anyways, i love her attention to details, how she can block out the world, and how human she actually is. since Private is from Reed's POV, i really didnt know Ariana had felt like that.. but yeah, Ariana's awesome. oh, and Kate? i was wondering if you were planning to turn this series into a TV show. i know they are already going to do Megan Meade's Gudie to The McGowan Boys, but yeah, i love Private.. and after seeing Gossip Girl? Id rather see something with an actual plot besides partying it up at club and sleeping with guys.. (which, i admit, Private has those moments) BUT, it has many twists and suspense and keeps me on the edge of my seat. I never liked Ariana in Last Christmas, but I started liking her in Privilege. They were really different. Idk if it was cuz I knew wat was gonna happen, or wat. Last Christmas was a shock cuz Ariana didn't seem like the type of person who would do those things. Crazy stuff. Savannah Lynn: Completely agree. Niya: I feel the same way. Steph: I don't think Noelle, Reed, Kiran, etc have to be big parts in her life, but she can be at the same party they are at, or for some reason go visit easton academy, or ends up going to the same college as reed or noelle after her senior year. I mean evenutally she is going to be found out, there are just so many things that could and most likely will go wrong, it would be so great if they were around for some added drama. I mean for one Briana Leigh's boy friend is going to wonder where she went, and will recognize the difference between the two. Second Kaitlyn is on the loose and knows her secret and everyones looking for her. once they catch her it, ariana will be in trouble. Then there the guy that thinks shes emma and goes to easton academy. That right there spells HUGE trouble, as i doubt it would be hard for him to identify her in like a year book or something. Especially since he said he was going there to visit her. Then theres the whole fact of the grandmother, she will most likely notice a difference too. So many things to go wrong, so many people Ariana is going to have to kill, lol.

Steph: I don't think the return of Private characters is impossible at all. I am not asking for them to be main characters, just come into it every now and then. I mean the girl is going to get caught at some point, there are just too many flaws. First of all Briana's boy friend is going to start looking for her, and I bet that school is the first place he looks, and he will see the difference. Second Kaitlyns on the loose, and knows arianas secret, and everyone is looking for her. If she gets caught, ariana is toast. Third the guy ariana was dating thinks she goes to easton and will be looking for her there as he said. Forth the Grandmother would notice a difference. Adding some billings girls to the mix would just make it all better. It would also be east considering the probably go around the same social scene, or even college would be easy. I mean they are all going to go to some ivy league, and she will eventually run into SOMEONE!!

Also, Thomas' return, though unlikey is possible and not THAT unrealistic. I mean, no one ever saw the body. He could have just been in a coma the whole time and the family was just trying to protect him when they didn't know who did it. I mean they lie about peoples deaths all the time if they are like FBI or CIA or even detectives, its certainly possible. If Kate were to do it i would trust she would do it right. Also: Kate- Don't think about Ariana TOO much that it hurts the quality of the Private books!!! Those are SOOO amazing, as is Privlege, but don't forget about Reed and company!!

I like Ari since she like me! Not that I would do anything that she does, but certain personality traits we have in common. We both like to read, both quiet but can do things people would never expect, both are vulnerable and other things she does reminds me of me. When Ari left the Private novels (which by the way, I'm in love with and can't wait for the next book!! XD) I was like "What? But I like Ari!! She's like...me!!" Then I heard there was a series on her and I was like "YES! ARI IS BACK!" Though my friends have no idea why I like her so much XD. When is the next book coming out in the Ari series?

casey: i have been wondering the SAME thing about thomas's return. it would MOST definitely put a new twisted spin on things (phrase a little redundant sorry). also, i do believe she will eventually get caught also. however, not likely by the grandmother. one, she is probably a tad old. and two, ariana would kill her, literally, if the grandmother was the least bit suspicious. billings girls wise...they would DEFINITELY notice. i mean how can you look into the eyes of death and not recognize them downt the road. so i do agree with you on the aspect of her getting caught if she is ever to come in contact with them again. anyways, i just can't like ariana no matter how many different ways i look at it. there is just no reason for her doing the things that she has done. evidently it wasn't temporary insanity seeing as how she is still murdering ppl. :/ sorry, that's just my intake on things. but i love the private series and everything associated with it so there. :) and no matter how much i dislike ariana, i'll still read privilege. it's a love/hate thing, right?

casey: i love the thought of thomas' return. it would put an awesome twist to the story. however...ariana getting caught by the g-ma? kind of unlikely in my eyes. 1)the g-ma is old...therefore prob. won't be around much longer to notice. 2)if she does stay around, ariana will kill her if she's the least bit suspicious. however, i totally agree that the billings girls will notice. you can't look death in the eyes and not recognize them down the road (reed). and she was noelle's best friend. you never forget a best friend...no matter how much they've change. you'll always notice them...(cont. next comment)

(cont.)...those eyes, the way they're described anyway, are too intriguing to ever forget. so they'll catch her eventually if no one else does. same goes for the g-ma as does the boyfriend of brianna. ariana will kill him if he gets in her way. we've already seen this happen...many times. anyways, i just can't seem to find a way to like ariana. there's no excuse for the things that she's done. temporary insanity? i don't think so. she's still doing the same things she did..therefore cannot be concidered as temporary. no matter though. it's a love/hate thing. i love to hate her :) so i will continue on with privilege til the end...:)

I don't know if it's only me but I never liked her at all. I thought she was odd since the first private and I only kinda felt sorry for her at times but I never really cared. When she killed all those people it just confirmed my suspicions of her being crazy!

yes, but she has contacts now, a totally different eye color is going to throw them all off. There is just way to many things that could go wrong already to us that as a reason to not put throw the billings girls in every now and then. I mean they will still run in similar social circles, its not unrealistic that they go to the same party or fundraiser or something. Also it is a bit unrealistic if Ariana ends up going to an Ivy league school that she DOESN'T run into someone from Easton.

i adore ariana. she's totally insane, but definitely intelligent, witty, and courageous. i always think, "omg i just want to kill [insert person's name here]!" but of course, it's not serious. i'm sure all of us say that on a regular basis! the things is, is that ariana actually acts on that thought. and for the most part, she kills people that she thinks are bad people (well...sometimes?) like sergei (sp?) and brianna leigh and melissa. but she got way carried away when she killed thomas and attempted to kill reed - that was just pure insanity and very selfish of her. but i can honestly say i actually hope her next victim is kaitlyn - she is a girl who just full on, no doubt deserves it. and ariana would probably agree! i would love to know when the next Privilege book is coming out? and of course, i can't wait for paradise lost! the days are going by too slow. (ps. reed and josh better get back together.) casey - you seriously might be on to something. i mean, thomas's parents seemed extremely bored and totally apathetic at his funeral - they basically said they had better things to do. who knows! it would be a major twist.

I c ur point Casey, it could happen, but it doesn't seem likely and that would just b a whiplash 2 the whole series. We should focus on the current situation: Reed+Josh. The whole finding out about Ariana. The series wouldn't really continue (I think) that well if she were caught. I mean the grandma (as they said in the book) is half blind 4 Edwardo's sake! Teo, will probably end up mysteriously dying. :-) I feel bad 4 him. And Briana Leigh. STEPH: I agree it is very unlikely Thomas comes back, I don't think its happening either, but I think it is atleast a possibility and kinda cool to think about. Also I don't think Noelle and Reed or anyone else from easton would infact figure out who she was. Atleast not if it was only a brief meeting of some sort, like at a party or something. I mean everyone thinks she is dead, she is in a disguise, looks totally different and took over someone elses identity so it seeems like she has lived a full life as Briana leigh. If you walked into your school with a wig color contacts and a few months after everyone went to your funeral, and a few years after anyone had even seen you, I doubt anyone would suspect it was you. Make up can do wonders lol. I mean that schools he goes to is a private school too? Don't they all get invited to the legacy? Brianna Leigh could have a bit of a runin with easton kids there? I am just saying it would be pretty easy to integrate the two stories considering they run in similar social circles...

okay i dont think that thomas should come back i think it would be too unrealistic sorry. Privieledge was completely amazing though and even though i do feel bad for arinna sometimes, i think shes insane and overall dont like her. not that i dont love to read about her shes so interesting to hear about. still reed and the private series are my favorite books of all time and (ive counted) i read 45 books just since the beggining of this year so its an accomplishment since these are my favorite!

Hey Kate. Before I tell you what I like about Ariana's character, I'd like to point out something. You keep on changing the color of Josh's eye. You frequently change it from blue to green throughout the novels. Just wanted to let you know. I do love this series. Although Ariana has her moments, I think we can all see that she truely loved Thomas. I think it is because of this fact that we all try to see the good in her. While she does do all these evil things, she did for love. And I give her credit for that.

And the whole Ariana might see the Easton kids again...but Ariana wouldn't know them, because they would all be new and stuff. GABRIELLA: I liked what you said about Ariana. But in my opinion, I don't like Ariana and Thomas together. And I guess Ariana did love Thomas, I thought she was all together crazy about that. In LAST CHRISTMAS, Ariana kepts saying she loved Thomas though they only spent a few days together. And Thomas didn't even say he loved her till the end, because Ariana said it.

Ariana is one of those characters whom I love and hate. There's the good side-and the bad sad. Ariana is an amazing character and always thinks 2 steps ahead. Though, I like Reed better. Anyway, there's only a couple more weeks until PL. I'm crossing my fingers for J and R getting back together. The whole love triangle is bugging me! J R and I. Who would have thought R and I would be friends? (Not trying to sound like GG with the letters for names and stuff, just want to make things faster) And I love your writing Kate Brian. You're one of those authors who doesn't stop writing books in the freakin cliff hanger. I hate those. Keep writing!

Kate! at first i was upset with her for killing thomas(more so for almost killing reed lol) but i always still thought she was so cool and composed. then after when you read last christmas you get to see inside her mind and why she did what she did and you come to feel bad for her. like when she killed sergei and melissa i felt so bad for her because she realized it wasnt necessary. its funny how we all feel that way but she is sort of like the sister who does all these bad things but you still love to death no matter what. i cannot wait to read paradise lost. noelle and reed being friends again made me so happy that i cried. lol love your books. hope i can be as good of a writer as you when im older and make an equally amazing series. kelly

oh, and If they do make the series into anything film-related, i would MUCH rather them do a TV series. because during the book, the chapters usually end like it would be a TV show. like the first couple of chapters would have them doing something and then something shocking happens. so thats where you would end that episode, and then the next episode would be on the next couple of chapters. other books-turned-into-movies really weren't that successful. such as The Clique. i dont even think they are going to make Best Friends For Never. haha. well, just wanted to state my opinion on that! and i LOOVVEE these books! --savannah lynn<3

I like ariana, even though i try not to. The crimes she's committed are unforgivable, but she has a way of getting you to understand her point of view. You want her to have a normal happy life, at the same time you want her to somehow pay for the crimes she's made at the same time. The series Private is my favorite, and Privilege is getting to be #2. I was wondering if you know how long this series is going to extend to? out of college? thanks, keep writing :D

It stayed true to the book, I've got to say. I wish they would make the BEST FRIENDS FOR NEVER, because Cam and Derrington are in there. LOL. But I do agree that the PRIVATE SERIES would be a better t.v. series, but...I don't think they should do a series or anything. I'm afraid they'll get the characters messed up and everything.

hmmm...what I think makes Ariana so compelling, and different is the way she thinks. Like the way she thinks about the fact that she's killed three ppl- well four actually. like how when she was drowning Briana Leigh, she more thought of it as an "unpleasant way to go". it wasnt the thought of killing someone that upset her, it was the way she did it. and the way she felt guilty for killing her afterward...idk. its just odd that she could kill someone, and not feel an ounce of guilt until she thinks she killed an innocent person... it's just different.

oh...and this goes along with the whole getting caught thing. i think, if anyone is going to catch her, it wouldn't be Teo, because he won't be looking for ariana, but briana leigh. Teo has no relationship with Ariana herself, just Briana leigh. so he's not going to see her and think, "oh my god, its Ariana Osgood." he's just going to think, "that's not briana leigh." but i don't think reed would be the one to catch her either. Reed used to think she was seeing Ariana all the time, but it was just her imagination. if she did see her and suspect anything for a second, Noelle or someone would probably convince her it was nothing. but if noelle recognized her, it mite be a whole diffeent story...

oohhh, and i highly doubt that thomas is coming back. its one thing for them to lie about his death to everyone, but an entire other thing to lock someone up on murder charges for killing said person. why would police lie about his death, spend money on an investigation, and lock up a girl on murder charges, without telling anyone that this guy's still alive. and now everyone thinks ariana killed herself because she was put in prison for life, so there would be a huge investigation... everyone would want a good reason for why they faked his death and put a girl in prison, and someone would probably take the fall for her suicide, since she'd been put in prison for a murder that didn't fully happen. it would be too much of an unrealistic twist, plus, it would be nearly impossible to come up with a reasonable explanation for why all of this happened and where thomas has been for the past two years. i just don't see it happening.

JACQUELINE; ha, same here! the only reason i watched The Clique was to see if Derrington, Cam, or Josh was in there.. but it was just Chris Abeley.. :( well, my opinion on the TV show is that they don't use people from the public (like The Clique did) or actors and actresses that are in EVERYTHING, cause I like variety. and as long as they look like them in the show (people can dye their hair and change their eye color) then idc what they look like in real life, as long as they ca transform the characters during the show. but, no wigs. you saw how Twilgiht ended up woth Taylor in that wig! lmao!--savannah lynn<3

when i finished reading Revelation, i almost cried. I'd thought it was the last book in the Private series, with quite a tragic ending,too. I honestly thought Sabine had killed Reed. But then I found out there's gonna be another book in the series and i just can't waittttttt to read it! But in the meantime, I read Last Christmas. wow, i never could've imagined Ariana doing those things... i mean murdering people and feeling absolutely fine with it? I was astonished... And Kate, I LOVE your books!!!! I want to be a writer too, and you've given me so much inspiration! Hi Kate! I'm not sure what exactly makes me so sypathetic toward Ariana. Like you said, it's strange caring for someone who has done so many horrible things. I feel bad for her in some ways because of everything she's gone through and had to deal with, but at the same time, she brought it onto herself. I love your books by the way. i have no idea wether i love or hate ariana. last christmas and privelege messed with my mind, before i read them i hated her for kiling thomas and trying to kill reed, but while reading them, i always really wanted things to work out for her, and i didn't even care wether she murdered a few more people along the way! i don't really know why i like and dislike her, though.

i just really wanna say how much i love the private books. okay, so im not sure if i love OR hate ariana. i love her because shes not perfect as she seemed to look like, and that she has insecurities like any other teen. i hate her because i think its ridiculous for her to kill people because they "didnt deserve to live" or because theyd "ruin her". i mean, if she killed people, does SHE think SHES someone worth living? and shouldnt she care about the lives of people she killed instead of herself? ugh. i think i dislike her more then i like her, but i still do like her anyway! shes very interesting to read about. very close minded and intelligent. Well, Ariana...hm...what to say about her. Seriously, it's a love/hate relationship. Sometimes, like in the early books, I really loved her artsy personality, and then she could just, snap at any moment if you just said the wrong thing, which really showed that she was on edge, especially with Reed, like when Reed went to that meeting club thing with ARiana and Reed said that she didn't know if she could give or recieve critisism, and Ariana said something back, and almost like snapped at her, which I thought was awesome and really showed that she wasn't just a goody two shoes artsy person. You know what I'm talking about? Anyways, I think my favorite character is Noelle because she just has so many sarcastic comments and I definetly know a few people like that, and Noelle just totally shines through them. Personally, I'm a mix of Ariana and Noelle. #1.)I have fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes therefore look like the old Ariana. #2.)I love to write, and I have writen quite a few short stories, about 20 pages long. #3.) I absolutley positivley love soccer. I don't play competitivley, because I'm not that good, but I can't get enough of it. By the way Kate, I am a huge fan and just entered the e.l.f contest!!! You love her for one second then you hate her..... What I think makes people feel like this is because she does TRY to be a good person...but then she will do something stupid and you hate her again. Like durring Privalge I loved her but she killed someone who I personally liked. So since she does try to be a good person I like her and also she really only made a few mistakes....we all make them som,e bigger than others but we are all human. But over all I can't hate her.

Ariana is crazy physio chic, but that's what makes her great. I mean, of coarse it's completely wrong to go out and kill people, but I think what's interesting is that she thinks that these people deserve to die. I love to read about how her mind works. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I'm SUPER excited!!!!!!

ABBY-LYNN; alright! i hope this doesn't spoil anyone else's reading experience, lol. but anyways! before Reed even shows up at Easton, Ariana falls in love with Thomas. and he said he did too. but, there were some problems. her mother was in a critical state, and she had a bf. so she waited until Daniel, her bf, graduated from Easton and broke up with him over the summer. the next fall when Thomas promised Ariana that they would get together, Reed comes along. and she wants her in Billings to get ri of her. (comment continued) well, one night when Thomas gets drunk and calls Reed all these nasty names and lies, he hits Reed. Well, they take her back to Billings. I think she fainted.. not sure. but they took him to a feild and tied him up to a scarecrow bar. since he was drunk, he was vulnerable. and since they tied him up, he couldnt defend himself. and since he had a mesh bag over his face, he couldnt see. but he did notice the voices. after their torment was over, they loosed the ties so he could crawl his way back to Easton (comment continued again on next comment)

OH! and when i was saying they, i meant the billings girls. well, since Ariana was so determined to be loved by Thomas, she went back to help him and make him think she is ther for him. he says that he didnt love her and started thinking on how he could ask Reed his forgivness. Ariana was now frustrated. She said "no, you love ME, you have to!" and i think he said that he doesnt. she sees a bat (Josh Hollis' bat) and holds it above her. he looks at the bat as says 'you are as crazy as you mother.' and she screms "NO, I AM NOZTHING LIKE HER!" and it says that everything went dark. that was the ending to Last Christmas..

I think what makes Ariana such an interesting character is that you can love and hate her at the same time. I hate her because she's a murderer and she doesn't act like normal people do, but at the same time, I love her because she is always thinking ahead and always trying to get what she wants using any means possible. Also, I kind of feel bad for her, in a way. P.S. I can't wait for Paradise Lost!!

I like Ariana in last christmas. i havent gotten the chance to read privilage yet but im excited. I feel like she was just pressured to be everything perfect for everyone espcially her mom. and i blame thomas for everything that happened to her. i never really liked thomas that much. If i was in the situation as ariana i wouldnt have handled it like that. but i would pretty pissed too. but i love your books kate! keep writing!!

ariana is compelling to me because no matter how many bad things she does, and people she kills, i still like her! and i still feel badly for her. also, she is very smart and perceptive. and she definitely has some serious issues with OCD and panic attacks. she is a great character and i can't wait to read the next book.

GLASS-LICKER: i'm not 100% sure b/c in the 1st chapter of PL there's a few sentences that say, "I had thrown myself backward in fear and had bumped into something hard. A second body. Dark hair had been splayed everywhere, arms bent at unnatural angles." but then a little ways down it also says, "The Pemberly girl who, splattered with blood, had fainted dead away." so i'm not sure who she's talking about. but also, i don't think there were any other pemberly girls invited to this party. so i am thinking ivy and reed were the only two pemberly girls there. which means it had to have been ivy?? goodness now i REALLLLLLY don't think i can wait til the 24th!!!

On amazon.com where you order paradise lost, there is one that you can order for $7.82 and it says that it will ship tomorrow or friday. Do you think that is the right book? Cuz they haven't released paradise lost yet.

NISH: no it won't be hard to understand at all. last christmas takes place before reed is even attending easton. it's a prequel. privilege is a whole new series of books in it self. it is written as if to take place at least 2 years after everything that's happened at easton. the only person from private novels that's in privilege is ariana, b/c its written from her POV. happy reading :)

this is going to sound like everyone else's comment): but. at first, i hated ariana oh so very much, she made me mad. but when i got to read her point of view, i was like. oh, my gosh. i am so much like ariana. i really hate when things aren't in order or don't go as planned. [i'd just never kill anyone, promise]. i'm very ocd. lol. just a few questions; in last christmas, ariana told thomas she didn't have a sister, but she does, it's sabine. why'd she tell him that?!

just have to say that i think ariana is a cold-hearted person. she killed thomas and i absolutly lobed thomas. and thomas loved reed. he was gonna change for her. anyways, i dont think last christmas justified her at all. it only made her even more insane sounding. i mean she murdered 3 people and didnt feel bad about any of them. shes crazy. and also i think it would be really cool if you did private from like thomas'spoint of view or something. humph...i love thomas and hated that he had to die =(

BIZZ: ivy's hair is dark. she is described in the first book she appears (inner circle pg. 22) (i had the book right here that's why i knew) as having sharp features, milk-white skin, & very long, perfectly straight and glossy BLACK hair. and coal black eyes.

ANDI: last christmas is a prequel. so everything that happens in that book took place before reed even gets to easton. so if you read it now, you won't miss anything and it won't spoil anthing, so whenever you want is fine! (but it's goooooood so asap :]) and privilege is supposed to take place 2 years after the private series as of now...but nothing in it happens at easton or has any of those characters (besides ariana of course) in it. so again, you won't be confused, no worries. it's starting a whole new series but i read them both right after revelation.

Wow, Steph is popular around here. I love Arianna! I love her name too. I like how she isn't just, like, too too perfect. I can relate to her in many different ways. I think that is why people like characters in books, they can always relate to that person. She's like a lost lost confused cute puppy to me. Okay, ignore cute. I'm sounding a little...weird here. i like ariana in a weird way. shes really intresting, she has this good side to her but her bad side always comes out stronger. she donsent seem to like the things she does at all, but she finds them necessary. she is really smart, and not just with books. she sort of has that Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing going on, but i really like reading in her point of veiw, it helped me get where she was coming from. not that i agree with killing people!

I love Ariana. It may sound creepy, but she's my favorite character. I think she's way more interesting than Reed, even though I love her too! Ariana is weirdly relate able. She has real issues and it's interesting to read books in that slightly off point of view. She's done some horrible things (including killing the wonderful Thomas<3) and I know I should hate her for it but she's just so compelling. Her character is just ingenious. She seems like she has a good heart, and she definitely has feelings... but then she just gets caught up in that ONE moment, goes crazy, and then kills someone. Tell me that's not awesome(; ! OH! And her style is so classy, as is she, her dark side rocks, and her romance with Thomas is awesome. Way cooler than Reed's. I just hope she gets a cooler love interest than Hudson in the future. He's lame.

I think when i was reading private i was so deep into what reed was thinking i just went along with what she thought about Ariana(phsyco bitch!!)But after i read Last Christmas Ariana seemed to transform into a real person with feelings. I mean for godsakes she loved Thomas! And then she became relatable and i felt for her(who doesnt have bad relationships). She gave up everything for him and told him her darkest secrets and he was willing to shove it in her face and run off. WE ALL love a happy ending and underdogs and i think in that sense Ariana seemed vonerable and we all want her to be okay :)

I think she's interesting just because she's done so many bad things. Things that I'd never have the nerve to do, it's interesting the way she thinks and how she plans everything out. Haha, I'm trying real hard to be original here and say something else other than what has been said, but its pretty much impossible...I love Ariana because she just seems real. Well I don't know anyone with the kind of patience she has, but her feelings were really relateable and it appeals to alot of people. But I really do love Reed more ;)

okay, well ill start off saying, your books are the best book series i have ever read in my life. and i have read harry potter and twilight, and there good and everything, but none of that can happen in anybodies life. i feel that i can almost relate to what goes on in your series. is that weird? its like i have come to know and love each and every one of the characters, and im not afraid to admit that i have cried a couple times, times that involved reed and josh. oh god, please oh please let them get back together haha. =). josh is by far one of my favorite boy characters, i don't really know why though. hes hot,handsome,funny,creative, romantic, understanding, sportsy, intelligent, and about a million other positive things, all rolled into one. i love noelle and how she is so sure of herself. shes definitley a favorite. plus reed. for me, i feel with reed that its kinda a love/hate thing. somethings that she does just piss me off at times. but anyways cant wait for suspision to come out. Ariana...I like her sometimes, but other times i think she's out of her mind-when she pushes Sergei into th water, and killed Mellisa. When she pushed him into the water I just sat on my couch like freaking out. I don't think that her craziness is all her falt though- it's probably in her genes(as well as Sabine's). I feel bad for her because Thomas was the only person who made her feel loved, then he kind of blew her off. When he was insulting her when he was tied up i was so mad at him!! Ariana shouldn't have killed him though, she went a little to far there...Ariana just intrests, confuses, and amazes me!
